Stansbury leaving Sharpe at home after latest gaffe-Article
Freshman forward Walter Sharpe will not travel with Mississippi State this week for the NCAA Tournament, putting his future as a Bulldog in jeopardy.
Sharpe skipped Monday's practice and was told "not to worry about coming back Tuesday," MSU coach Rick Stansbury said.
State travels to Charlotte, N.C., today and plays Stanford in the NCAA Tournament Friday.
Stansbury said he will decide on Sharpe's future with the program after the season.
It is the latest in a season full of disciplinary problems for Sharpe, who is averaging 2.4 points in 8.9 minutes per game. He missed the team flight to Anaheim, Calif., for a December game and has received several suspensions for being late to games, practices and shoot-arounds.
"You would think he would learn by now," Stansbury said.
