Kevin Dyson was not a surprise. He was horrible during pre-season.
So if a player has a horrible pre-season he should be cut? No.
It's a surprise because even though Dyson has had a pretty bad offseason, and he's injury plagued, the Chargers are very thin at WR and Dyson is a player with alot of talent.

I think the Chiefs cutting DT Eddie Freeman was a shock, just a few years ago they invested a second round pick in him.

Ricky Ray's cut after trying to leave the CFL to find a career in the NFL. He'll probably make his way back in Canada in no time, I don't know why he'd go to some place with a starter in place.

The Packers cut Kenny Holmes after just signing him not that long ago, Kenny Holmes hasn't been a good player since he was on the Titans.

Bob Whitfield was finally cut by the Falcons, he's been terrible for years.

I'm very happy to see Bobby Sippio made the Miami Dolphins, the guy is a nice sized target. It's always good to see AFLers make the jump to the NFL.

The Packers got a steal of a deal in landing R-Kal Truluck, the guy is an athlete and a nice speed rusher, he should really benefit on the other side of Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila.

Damn, what is up with Derek Ross? He's been cut three times in under a year. Is it because of character problems, because the guy can play. I was thinking that Ross and Newman would be a great duo in Dallas and now two teams later he's looking for a job.

That's crazy.

A lot of surprises...

DE Will Overstreet
DE Keith McKenzie (servicable situtational vet pass rusher...)
OT Marques Sullivan
G Travis Claridge (was competing for the job just earlier in the preseason)
CB Vontez Duff (i thought he was a steal and keeper)
LB Bryan Knight (remember when he was dubbed as Colvin's replacement?)
DT Glenn Steele (Bengals need his size and him for depth)
S Marquand Manuel (he played well last season...)
FB Jamar Martin :)()
TE Jed Weaver
TE Byron Chamberlin (what are the Broncos doing cutting their top 2 TE's??)
DT Eddie Freeman (maybe the biggest surprise...)

If a receiver shows he can no longer catch passes, run fluid routes, and plays horrible all around, should he be cut? Yes. If the season were to start with Dyson on the team, he would be their 5th receiver behind Kassim Osgood, Reche Caldwell, Eric Parker, and Tim Dwight. That should tell you enough on why he was cut.

A surprise for the Eagles is the cuts of Dorsey Levens and Eric McCoo leaving them with Brian Westbrook and Reno Mahe as the only true Half backs on the team. Thomas Tapeh is capable of playing the RB spot, but he's more of an Mike Alstott type pounding runner of a Fullback.

I think there's a trade in the works because the Eagles kept five safeties: Brian Dawkins, Michael Lewis, Clinton Hart, JR Reed, and Quintin Mikell. All signs are pointing to Clinton Hart being trade bait, he proved that he can be a capable starter in the league playing a good amount of games last season while Brian Dawkins sat out due to injury. Despite his experience, Hart looked lost at points during games, while at others he showed flashes of greatness. This preseason JR Reed performed better than him, making Clinton expendable. It makes me believe that he will be a player offered to get some kind of runningback in town.

Sultan McCoullough RB from the Skins. I thought he was gonna be a solid back up for Portis. He showed his flashes of brilliance.

Rumor has it the Rams might of cut Lamar Gordon.
And there's your answer.

Lamar Gordon has a style of play very similar to Correll Buckhalter (not as powerful though). In most cases a team in the NFC wouldn't trade a RB to the Eagles, but the Rams might be interested in a player link Clinton Hart at FS. With Aeneas Williams at FS currently, I think it'd be smart to bring in a young FS like Hart to play alongside Archuleta.

I wish, since I really like Gordon as a player. Though I wonder how long it'd take him to absorb the offense.

Man, I like Quincy Wilson a lot. I think he can turn out to be a nice backup somewhere. Im hoping the Phins pick him up.
