Susquehanna (Dempsey's Alma mater) comes to binghamton this Saturday. This should give us a look at our limited roster, Dempsey style of play and the general direction of Bing.

Bing - 68

I was hoping that a bing fan that is more savy about basketball then me with post, but I guess they all gave up on Binghamton so I say my 2 cents.

For starters it seems like Rayner Moquete is going to be the go to guy on offense for this season. He went 6 for 9 from the field.

I was also impressed with Brown, Roland he did a nice job in the paint opening up the outside for taylor Johnson and Grey to make threes. I don't know how well he will do when he has to play against d1 teams however as the tallest player on susquehanna (D3) team was 6'7.

Lastly, I think we are going to be a team that lives or dies by the 3 this year. More then half our shots where from behind the arc and this is against a d3 team where you would think you could overwhelm them from inside the arc.

Didn't go to the game, but the box score certainly didn't lead me to believe they played a sound game. But that's to be expected. Still not "Dempsey's team", per se, and it's one game...without last year's best player (Mansell) and the freshman I anticipate to be the best of the bunch (Reed)

20 turnovers, 7-16 from the stripe, 29 of 53 shots taken from beyond the arc...all against a D3 team. Not a recipe for success.

Two huge differences between last year and this year....

1. Penetration to draw the defender in and then dish out to an open wing. This rarely happened during the Macon-era, it was mostly slow, predicatable perimter passing. This could free up a number of shots for Grey/Moquette/Johnston,

2. Coaching - I don't think Dempsey sat down the entire 1st half, and when he saw a guy make a mistake, he actually seemed to use them as teaching moments, go figure. Needless to say, this didn't happen all that often during the Macon years.

Brown looks like he could be a solid big this year. Moquette looked comfortable running the point. Freeman was having troublew establishing position against d-3's, I think he will struggle against D-1's.
