You can login to most 3rd party apps with your streaming provider account. I think the only outliers were Nickelodeon/Comedy Central for me. I made a spreadsheet of all the channels I wanted and which ones I had to have. I was able to find a package that satisfied my and my family needs. It was funny how I said "oh I like that channel" but then when I figured it would cost me $15 a month more, I thought ehh do I really like it that much?
I did something similar. Turns out I didn't like any of them that much and currently pay $0.

Another thing to consider is that these services don't have contracts so you can subscribe just during basketball season if you want to. That leaves 7 months out of the year that you're not paying for it. Also, a lot of the platforms like Sling, Vue, etc. have free 7-day trials, so if it works out that your team is only on a particular network a few times, you can match those up and not have to commit to it.
