Why yawn? Duquesne wants to have players get some postseason experience. Remember when VCU beat SLU in the CBI championship? That VCU team followed it up with a Final Four run.
I remember it all too well AA. You dominated us in that as you have done since joining the A-10. I don’t at all fault Duquesne ponying up to play in the CBI for the reasons that you stated. However, for the average CBB fan other than the fans of the teams playing in the CBI, it is a big yawn.

The prestige
Interesting side note. The NCAA tournament began in 1939. At that time, there were 120 NCAA teams. Of the original 120, there are four - Army, the Citadel, St. Francis of Brooklyn, and William and Mary, who have never played in the tournament. Army was actually invited I believe in 1968, but chose the NIT instead. Bobby Knight, who was then the Army coach, said he chose the NIT because of the close proximity of Madison Square Garden to West Point. In actuality though, he knew that UCLA was almost guaranteed to win the NCAA championship, so why play if you had no chance to win the championship. I guess for those four teams, there might be some prestige in playing in the CBI.

Accepting CBI is about program needs. A young team needing experience going forward, an need to hang a banner for the first time in a long time... go ahead and take the bid.

It's about where your money is best served for your program. I think that outside of Fordham, Duquesne, and a couple other programs, that money is better served in scheduling.

I hope no one hangs a CBI banner if they win. That is flat out embarrassing. There was no reason for Fordham to spend money on that tournament. Better to end the year after getting the three seed losing a tough game in the semis.

Do the Rams of Richmond display their CBI championship banner A.A.?
If they do I have not noticed it. My guess is it in a row with NIT banners that I never look at. I like the wall with all the NCAA banners that take up the entire north side of the Stu.
