Xavier made it to the second weekend in 2012, Dayton in 2014. None since. Dayton, Joes and Rhody respectively in 15,16, 17 had real close shots at making it to the second weekend but fell short. Since then it hasn’t even been close. 2-8 since 2018 with both second round bow outs coming in ugly form.

I have the same thoughts as Bi. When?
This is exactly my point. We've had 3 appearances since 2012. Get one, right? So close in 00 against UK too. At some point the A10 needs to turn a head, SBU included. I swear the effing MAAC and NEC produce more eye opening wins.

I've always had the optimistic "why not us?" going in, but it seemingly never is.

After my LaSalle gaffe, I remembered looking stuff up is easy, and not looking stuff up is for the BW. Having said that, I looked it up to confirm my suspicions that we are, in fact, overestimating the frequency which we should have expected an A10 team to make a run.

Looking at the last 10 tournaments, including this year, below is the list of conferences outside the P6 reaching multiple sweet 16s when you exclude Houston, Gonzaga and UConn (which don’t count on the same plane, for obvious reasons)

MVC - 4 (no current members)
MWC- 3
A10- 2

We collectively need to step up, SBU with its 2 major round of 64 chokes in that time included. However, as we see, it’s (hopefully) a matter of being on the wrong side of a dip in the mean, and will correct itself. Every year, even the worst years like this one and 2019, there’s been squads who could do it . But we’re not in notably worse shape than our non-P6 peers.

Having made it 4 years in a row, and not since, isn’t helping w the starkness.

Expect the P5 to petition the NCAA to not allow mid-major programs into the Dance. In the last two years St. Peters, FDU and Princeton have 5 tourney wins. In contrast Rutgers and Seton Hall have 2 wins in 18 years.
Contrasting this notion, could we expect CBS to tell the P5 to eat shit? The word of mouth and viewership explodes when upsets happen.

Maybe I’m so old I forgot that.
Im enjoying this Princeton game right now. As a loyal Billikens fan I hate MIZZOU. GO TIGERS of Princeton. I think the Tigers mascot may be the only one there are more of than Rams. Very original.
Your head is going to explode again today when the Wildcats play the Wildcats.

I think the first thing the p5 does is get rid of the automatic bids for ncaa tournament. Keep automatic bids for the NIT.
To compromise, why not just expand the field to 72 and make the 15s and 16s play in at their regional sites? It would open up a handful more at-large bids without watering down the field too much.

I really do believe CBS (or any network) would push back against screwing too much with the men’s basketball tournament. It’s such a massive cash cow, and they wouldn’t be getting the same national interest or discussion if the 15 and 16 seeds are schools like “Nebraska” or “Mississippi” playing the top seeds. We see those boring ass matchups all season.

I feel like we've had this discussion before. I like where BR is headed but I'd rather go to rewarding the conference champs and adding AL's that all have a play-in game.

32 conference champs and 16 AL's get a bye to Rd64. 32 AL's play T/W to make the Rd64. 80 team tourney. With how many 15/16 have been making waves, I can't see eliminating half of them prior to Rd64. Eliminate the Gigantic State U's who went 7-11 in conference and have 17-13 records.
