Is it possible to pull a Tyrion Lannister and demand a trial by combat tonight? I’m thinking Kawhi Leonard vs. Pageant Mom. Bare fists to the death.
Why can't my team get coaches like that?

I was out for a walk this morning on Roosevelt Island in the middle of the Potomac. As you can see, even nature is celebrating Danny Hurley's victory.

Whats even worse are all these damn puff pieces about Hurley and what he "went through" to get here. He might be a good guy off the court but he is such a cocksucker on the court that I will never feel anything other than hate for him.

Yep. He could be the nicest guy in the world, but his stunningly bitchy facial expressions and demonstrative gestures make him a good candidate for a good, old fashioned hanging, drawing, and quartering—William Wallace style.
More often than not you find that a person is often very similar outside of coaching to their on-court demeanor. I don't buy that he's a great guy off the court. I think people like him tend to be intense about everything they do, and if you're on his side, you see nothing but the good. It's how he would treat all the others that would speak more to his character.

Mind you I know less than nothing about DH as a person, but in my experience with teachers and coaches a dick on the field is often a dick in real life.

Thx. Nice pic. It doesn’t look anything like Roosevelt Island in NYC.
To play the heel on Hurley- he’s a turd. There’s no doubt about it. He’s obnoxious and theatric to absurd levels.

That said- and maybe I’m way off here- but to BI’s point about being on his side- he seems he’s an overly intense guy, but not from a malicious place. There does seem to be a connection with his players, and clearly, he’s gets a lot out of them. So while he may be a total jackass, Im not convinced he’s an asshole on a personal level. He’s just one of those guys who’s a lot to handle, often to an off-putting degree.

Compared to say, McCaffrey, who seems like he’s just a prick.

I can see that now that someone (you) has written it out. I still have issues with his treatment/upstage of every referee and their calls. I think BR alluded to his theatrics being almost choreographed they're so overtly demonstrative. Thus, Pageant Mom.

McCaffery is just truly a dickhead on another level.

I agree with this. I don't think he's a dick (to use BI85's word), but I do think he is dislikable. He comes off like a petulant child and makes it hard to root for him. Seeing him throughout the tournament and noticing he had a human side made me realize (or at least think) that he is not an asshole, but more just a whiny little bitch.

I am going to disagree here. Some know this but others dont, I officiate high school basketball. I have come across many coaches over the years and I have found that they are very different on the court than off. Hell, even pregame vs in game they are like Jekyll and Hyde. There are coaches around here who are the nicest guys before the game starts. Cordial, hey its nice to see you, how is your family.. all that crap. Then 30 seconds into the game they are motherfucking you and are like Hurley. They are also great coaches so they obviously arent huge assholes to their kids. Some people just cant turn off that intensity in game or they are wound so tight that they act like that. Bottom line though, the McCaffreys and Hurleys of the world can go fuck themselves.

03, I feel like you are holding back a little here. That's not good for your health.
Go ahead and let it all out.
