Ehh.. who cares? I don't think they played like a T25 team last night. As long as they get enough votes, sure it looks good for the program and the league but let's be honest, Charleston is ready to deliver a swift kick to the nether regions if things don't improve a little.

Right, but it's really nice to be able to play like garbage, be down 11, flip a switch and smother the opponent and escape with a win. Good teams win even when they play bad.

We need to be better, of course, but they all know it. And the second half defense shows what we're capable of when the effort and focus is there.

I think we'll get up for this tournament.

So I'm a big fan of Thomas Perry's books.
One series is about Jane Whitefield, a Seneca Indian, who spends a lot of time near Bona, and in upper NY state.
Her latest venture has her traveling through Cattaraugus county.
Maybe she'll stop in at the Reilly Center for a game...or 3rd Base for a bourbon.

Or her casino in Salamanca

I'm stoked we're 16 and getting the coverage.

Looking at the AP voters though, woof. The SEC territory guys are just garbage at filling out the poll.

Tuscaloosa guy dropped us from 25 to not ranked. (Which whatever, I don't care where we are in the polls as long as we're in them and getting the coverage that comes with that). But this guy moved Iowa up to 19th (because they won two home games vs MEAC/SWAC teams they bought? Yeah, they won by 25 and 23... but NC Central and Alabama State are 1-9 combined).

And the Gainesville guy left Kansas off his ballot all together. They did only play Stony Brook and pummel them, but he had KU at #3. I'm guessing he just skipped them when submitting it. I wonder if he got to 25, thought "oh, I have an extra spot! Sweet... I can list another SEC team!"

That right there is why obsessing over exactly where we are in it is pretty pointless. These guys can't take it seriously enough to remember Kansas. As long as we're ranked, we get the pub that comes with it, and that's all that matters.

I remember getting worked up over the voters. It is ridiculous and don't get me started on the preseason AP Top 25. They put it out and it hampers teams down low in the Top 25 and teams outside of it have to win a bunch of games to even sniff it. The AP Poll basically games the system for teams in it before any game is even played.

Right. the only reason it "Matters" is because the media only covers the Top 25 teams -- and the properties that outlet owns, of course. (Looking at you, E$PN).

We've had more mentions and highlights on ESPN in the last 14 days than we had gotten in the previous 20 years, just because there's a little number next to our name.

What's funny is that the poll has grown from 20 to 25 teams since 1968, and size of Division I has almost doubled in that time frame. I'm not saying there should be an AP Top 50... but they should cover the top half of all leagues like they cover the Top 25.

It didn't hurt that you beat Clempson, and pummeled Marquette.
You'll get another chance in a couple weeks with ranked UConn, and Virg Tech, both on ESPN2.

Despite the high expectations coming into the season, I was desperately hoping for a 9-3 OOC. I figured if everything went well, they could go 2-1 in Charleston, split with UCONN/VT, and then trip over their feet in a game they should win, say Buffalo at home or Northeastern in Boston.

If they can still split with UCONN/VT and otherwise hold serve, I would be ecstatic beyond all measure. At least 8-4 or worse seems out of the picture. But a WNY sports fan never stops worrying.
