The Greg Oden Sweepstakes Is In Effect!

Knicks coach Larry Brown said he's reached the point where he's ''begging guys to play,'' and Steve Francis was on the verge of tears.

''They came in with so much more energy, it was like the varsity against the JV,'' Brown said. ''You've got to keep trying. Somehow you've got to find five guys who care enough to compete. I hate to say that because you take away from (the Wizards players) and what they did, but you've got to hope you have enough pride to compete. I never in my life thought I'd be in a position where you're begging guys to play.''

Brown said he's never been through a stretch this difficult as a coach, and Francis went even further.

''Besides my mom passing away when I was 18, this is top three, definitely, just because this is my livelihood,'' Francis said. ''Basketball is what I do. To be able to come out here and not being able to help this Knicks organization win is tough. I think a lot of the players don't realize that you only have one basketball career and it doesn't last as long as you think. The money might be there, but actually being out there on the court, that (stuff) doesn't last. And until people realize that and realize that you have to help each other and not be so selfish and worry about how many points you score, we're going to be stuck in the same position, same place.''

''It's like a funeral, man,'' Francis said, his eyes welling up. ''That's what it feels like.''

''Just when I thought we couldn't get any worse or go any lower, we find another way to do it,'' said Quentin Richardson

How can they POSSIBLY get better next season? There's no hope for them and NOBODY's gonna take any of those contracts.
They'll have a chance to improve if they get rid of Supernovabury. Let's hope not, because I really want Greg Oden on the Bulls.

They could improve a lot with the present personnel.
All they have to do is to work together in a system that fits their talent and stop reading the newspapers and the internet.

Most of all, Larry Brown has to start pointing the finger at himself rather than everyone else. It's his job to get these guys to play together. Either do it, or let someone else have the $10 Million/yr job.

To me the Knicks are perfect.

I hope they don't change a thing. They should stick with what's working.

They are my second favorite team this season and next...........

Keep it up Knicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man Oden will look good in a Bulls Uni............LOL.

Knicks are in a world of Thomas.

NO way nobodies taking Marbury lol

his contract is outrageous and with his recent comments about "going back to being STARBURY", who's really gonna want that type of ego on their team? Ny's stuck with him.

Like I said before, this is DESTINY, lol their downfall was inevitable for our rise to the top...

it starts this year with they're top 3 pick, and it ends next season with GREGORY ODEN lol
I doubt the Knicks could trade Marbury but they could buy him out and swallow the 60 million it would cost them

that's what they all say...

factor in that his family is dirt broke & he can finishi college ANYTIME.

It's not like he was gonna come out pubiclically and say 1 year and I'm done lol. That would be selfish of him.

At the same time, you MAY be right.

and aldridge said the was staying at Texas. Yet the media is reporting he is getting an agent.

If Oden plays well his freshman year and is projected #1 I would guess he will leave.

He'll be out next year, I'm willing to put money on it. He would be out this year if it weren't for the silly rules :(.

Aldridge and Owen are two completely separate people.

True! They are not the same person.

But guys say they want to go to college, or want to stay in college, all the time but then don't. As far as high lottery picks go, I suspect an analysis would reveal that the number of players who declare far outweigh those that stay.

Oden may stay. But the odds are he won't. In any event, I don't really care all that much except from a draft depth perspective. The odds that the Knicks end up with the #1 overall pick in the draft 2 drafts from now aren't even worth discussing.

I just hope the Knicks shuffle us a top 8 pick or so next season. If that draft is as deep as everyone keeps gushing about it, that should make for a fine asset.

What silly rules? They SHOULD have been two years, not one.

Jack Keefer, who has coached high school basketball for 34 years and Greg Oden for four, has accumulated some keen observations of the 7-foot, 260-pound giant who seems destined for stardom in college and the NBA.

"Most people think Greg will go directly to the NBA after his freshman year at Ohio State,'' said Keefer, Oden's coach at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. "But I wouldn't be at all surprised if he chose to stay at Ohio State for three or four years.

"Education is very important to him. He wants to go to college because only one member of his family graduated from college. He isn't like a lot of kids who think only about the NBA. The dollar may turn his head, but he wants to go to college. He wants to win a national championship.''

I liked the rules when they were implemented, but now when you consider the Bulls would of had the best shot to land Oden this year, it hurts :(.

Hopefully he does stay in college and works on his game, but I have a feeling the money will sway him.
