I remember him coming into the league and being an insane passer with lots of highlight moves. Then he kind of disappeared.
He started playing smart basketball under Hubie Brown w/ the Grizzlies. Having Shaq & Wade really helps JWill's shooting percentages out.spearsy said:thats because he took his head out of his *** and started playing smart basketball.
yes, and he still plays smart basketballneoxsupreme said:He started playing smart basketball under Hubie Brown w/ the Grizzlies. Having Shaq & Wade really helps JWill's shooting percentages out.
I thought they had to chance to better then my team, the Cavs. Still don't understand why they have done so poorly - they still have the talent IMO at nearly every positionJamel Irief said:He's a good shooter and a superior ball handler, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Outside of what he was doing as a wild 22 year old. Consider what they had at point guard last year.
By the way, where are the people that thought that the Bucks will be better than the Lakers?![]()
Yeah, and that's when he disappeared from the general publics eye.neoxsupreme said:He started playing smart basketball under Hubie Brown w/ the Grizzlies. Having Shaq & Wade really helps JWill's shooting percentages out.
Why wouldn't you sway from that viewpoint, when it has been shown to have no validity in the 50 or so regular season games that JWill has played with both Wade and Shaq? Career bests in fg%, 3pt%, ft%, PPG, and turnovers...why not judge him by what he has actually done on the floor, rather than by some vague notions formed before the season even started?EHL said:I think most people said that his penchant for dribbling the ball too often would be a detriment to a team with Wade and Shaq, two of the most unstoppable scorers in the entire league, and that combining him with Antoine Walker would be even worse. I still see no reason to sway from that viewpoint, which I think will only be shown to be true in the postseason this year (specifically the ECF).
Cause I can use my eyeballs, which confirm what I've been thinking/guessing/seeing. Moreso Walker, but still.Diophantos said:Why wouldn't you sway from that viewpoint, when it has been shown to have no validity in the 50 or so regular season games that JWill has played with both Wade and Shaq? Well, I've been watching the same games you have and have seen very little problem. JWill hasn't really been overdribbling at all this year--he's been making quick decisions on whether to attack the rack or shoot, and it's been paying off. 'Toine, I may see your point, but I think Williams has been doing just what Riles envisioned.EHL said:Cause I can use my eyeballs, which confirm what I've been thinking/guessing/seeing. Okay. I guess we're in agreement then. Walker has done some nice things on occasion, but as you say he is very often just frustrating. Nothing unexpected, unfortunately. I've definitely questioned the 'Toine move as well. I would probably have been happier just trading for JWill and Posey, if such a scenario were possible, and looking for frontcourt help somewhere else.EHL said:^ Actually I don't really disagree with you too much. Williams has been a pleasant surprise, most Heat fans will tell you that. My problem is that Riley combined Williams with Walker, who has had some great stretches over the last 6-8 weeks and then stretches where you'll say to yourself "Why the **** did you chuck up that shot/dribble into traffic and turn it over". I know Riley wants people to "lay off" Walker, but I disagree here, because Walker should to everything in his power to get the ball to Wade and Shaq.
