So it is NCAA write-up time from people that don't know your team time. VCU did not get a mention but boy oh boy there was this on Bona.

35. St. Bonaventure. There is so much to admire about this program, this coach. It’s astounding that Mark Schmidt hasn’t gotten a more prominent job given what he’s achieved with the Bonnies. They’re back in the NCAA Tournament for the third time since his arrival in 2007. It’s not easy to get to the NCAA Tournament from the Atlantic 10, and it’s doubly tough at St. Bonaventure.

That writer is doing less with less.

So regarding covid, you have to figure Ayers tested negative prior to the championship game. So he either picked it up during the game - unlikely as everyone else on court was probably negative as well, or during extracurricular at UD, or in travel or dinner, which is far more likely. Does anyone know if VCU and SBU personnel probably were all tested in Indy yet?

Of the 6 refs, ONE had a positive test and the other 5 are out because of contact tracing, as they all went to dinner together. So it's a Russian roulette odds that it was Ayres from our game.

The team has pretty much had daily testing for a while now, since they each needed 7 days of negative tests just to get on the bus to go to Indy;

Once they get to Indy, they get tested, placed into isolation in their hotel room and aren't allowed out until their arrival test comes back negative. And they're tested daily in the NCAA's mini-bubbles.

Because of the A-10 tourney format and testing, they either have been tested every day since March 3, or at minimum 11 times in the last 12 days.

ESPN has an "auto-fill my bracket" function with a few choices on there. I decided to go with the "Smart Bracket" one that's powered by their BPI formula. At least when I'm running it, it seems to like both Bona and VCU to advance to the second round a majority of the time. The buck tends to stop there though.

That is extremely disappointing. The NCAA is going rake oodles of $ from getting to hold this tournament. The least they can do is get the kids the kind of spreads they're used to on their own campuses. As far as not being able to move around, oh well that's the breaks - if basketball is important enough you'll deal with that. But for god sake these are elite athletes, making a shit ton for the governing body, treat them right.
