Sheed For Snow & Big Dog? (Philly Conjecture Only)

From: Philly.com

......There is point guard Eric Snow, whom numerous teams want. Perhaps King can persuade Portland general manager John Nash to take Snow and (Glenn) Robinson for Rasheed Wallace.
No thanks.

The Rumor Mill Grinds On

I read these 2 on Insidehoops.com. Take them for what they are worth.

Boston is supposedly looking to make another deal....in particular for a PG and a C. Anybody think Danny Boy would be interested in Damon and DD?

Hey, I can dream, can't I?:)

The other story, which came by way of a Philly newspaper, claims that the 76ers are ready to offer Portland Snow and Robinson for Sheed.

OK, we need a PG - BAD. Robinson is a dog, but he would be $12 mil off the books in 05. Pity they won't trade Dalembert - if we are going to lose Sheed AND put up with Robinson for 1.5 seasons, we ought to get more in return than just Snow!

Why would the Blazers trade Sheed and his contract that expires this summer for Snow (whose contract expires a qazillion years from now, I believe) and Big Dog (whose contract expires *next*summer)?

Makes no sense to me. I don't think the Blazers are that desperate to bring in another PG. They've got 3 on the roster right now (4 if you count Woods, which I don't but the coaches seem to).

Snow is signed through 09, when his contract maxs out at around $7 mil. I would much rather have him than Damon, particularly in light of his superior (for the team) contract.

The price tag is just too bloody high.

BTW this RUmor was mentioned by Mike Rice about 2 weeks ago.

Philly really needs to move Snow and after AI's commetns the other night what they need is some toughness.

I am thinking a player like Rueben Patterson, and maybe DD.

I wouldn't mind getting SNow, his price tag isn't too bad, but the 2 at the price of Sheed IMO is too much unless we are getting picks as well.

I really love the toughness that Patterson brings, but if the Blazers are serious about keeping Darius and Woods, I'd be more than happy in trading Ruben for Snow somehow. He's the kind of PG we need here. And if they want to throw in Dalembert to sweeten the deal, even better... alright, I may have gone overboard with that one.

I agree. They should give us Snow just for taking Robinson off their hands.

One thing about this proposal: it puts Portland's salary cap problems in perspective.

Snow is making 4.5 mil, and is signed through 09 when he maxs out at 7 mil.

Damon is pulling down 14.5 and 15.5 next season. Does anyone seriously think he is better than Snow???

TBob even gave Rueben a fatter contract then what Snow has! No wonder we are salary cap hell.

I'm wondering though if this whole trim salary thing is just a ruse to get around simply letting a couple of th guys walk, or to justify trading them.

Those guys in particular would be Rasheed and Damon, the 2 in all likelyhood biggest contract errors Whitsitt made.

What I really am wondering is how tight will the pursestrings be when Z-Bo, Miles and any other younger guys, are up for resigning? I think the new group will resign players for what their play stipulates, rather than just shelling out Max deal left and right. One of the Blazers best lure to FA's was "Paul Allen will take care of you" I doubt they simply throw that leverage away.

I am not so sure we would do this. Leaves us thin in the frontline a bit.

How about this one:

Portland trades:
PG Damon Stoudamire (12.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 6.1 apg in 37.5 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (8.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 24.5 minutes)
C Vladimir Stepania (2.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 10.7 minutes)

Portland receives:
SF Glenn Robinson (17.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 33.8 minutes)
PG Eric Snow (10.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.1 apg in 36.4 minutes)
C Derrick Coleman (8.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.5 apg in 26.7 minutes)

TRADE ACCEPTED

We'd be swapping a PG, SF and C with each other. They get Damon's toughness (and the shortest back court in the history of the league). We get rid of two guys on the police blotter and get back one plus a good citizen in Snow.

I don't think Philly would do this but I would.

C Rasheed
PF Zach
SF Big Dog
SG Anderson
PG Snow

That group should be able to score.

hey i threw a crazy trade out there that will never happen but works!

Dallas trade:
SF Antawn Jamison (15.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
SG Michael Finley (18.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.0 apg in 39.9 minutes)
PG Steve Nash (14.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 8.1 apg in 33.3 minutes)

Sixers trade:
SG Allen Iverson (27.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 6.2 apg in 36 games)
SF Glenn Robinson (17.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 32 games)
PG Eric Snow (10.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 7.1 apg in 50 games)

Salarys match too. But i know iverson is untouchable.
