He said coaches at all levels must do a better job of focusing on the aspects of the game that the premier foreign teams displayed at the world championships.

I agree

"Players want to know what we want from them," Floyd said. "If we don't emphasize shooting and passing and setting picks, they aren't going to do it."

I feel the same way!!

"I think a true general statement (is) that beginning at the grade-school level, we do need to spend more time on the basic skills of basketball and what it means to be a team player — to not learn to play by yourself," Popovich said, "but to learn to play with four other guys. It's pretty obvious to most of us in the business that a lot more time has to be spent in those two areas."

Just one more person to say that the fundamentals are ignored by the players today, if not enforced by the coaches. Setting pics and boxing out are not as glamorous as the dunker or the shooter to the masses, but they get the "W" for the team.
