According to Sam Amick of USA Today, one person Detroit’s ownership will pursue this summer is Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.

Izzo came close to becoming the Cavaliers’ head coach in 2010, before turning the franchise down and staying at Michigan State. Cleveland went on to hire Byron Scott.

Would be very cool to see him stay in Michigan while moving up to the Pro level. I'm just not sure he'd necessarily want to coach this group of guys. Thoughts?

You just never know with college coaches making the transition. He's 59 and probably fairly stuck in his ways already, as well. It would be tough for him at this stage of his career.

I would take the possibility more seriously if the Pistons weren't in the situation they are in. He does hate having to deal with all the middlemen in recruiting, plus MSU will be down next year, so there's a slim chance.
