I know that the Grizz are trying to get rid of Swift but why get another wing player(Miller)? They are loaded..Pau Gasol, Shane Battier, Mike Dickerson, Wesley Person, and from watching Gooden play in the summer league I think he can play some small forward too.

cmd34: Do you have a dish with a basketball package that gives you extra channels/games? The only summer league games I've been able to see have been this week on ESPN/ESPN2. Thanks.

I live in SoCal. I take my 2 kids to games every summer. This year I went twice and saw the Grizz both times. Gooden is going to be special IMO.

I'm jealous. I wish there was a summer league in the Chicago area. I agree about Gooden. Thanks again. :)

Chicago has a long history of great ballers. I bet if you look around and ask some people they can tell you where the pro's scrimmage in the Chicago area? Speaking of Chicago..where is Ronnie Fields????

Well you're very kind with your comments about Chicago: Thank you. As for Ronnie Fields: I don't think he will be part of that "long history of great ballers". I don't know where he is and although I hope he does well, I don't expect to see him in the NBA.

No, I've never been to Seattle either. It sounds nice too. A few years ago I considered moving to Washington.

I don't want to be rude but I think we're getting off the topic of the thread. :)

Peace.

Vin Baker should fare well as a bigman in the (l)east plus he's been wanting to play closer to home. I would think even if the Celtics get Shammond Williams or Earl Watson in this trade they will still need a point guard via free agency.

Seattle is doing this to rid themselves of Baker but waht do they do with Anderson? That's one expensive back-up point guard. Does this move mean they will deal the Glove now??????

I agree with the last post...why add Anderson if being isn't being shipped? And why ship Payton unless you're ready to rebuild finally?

If they're serious about this, my guess is that the Sonics would take Anderson simply to make the Baker deal work, and because his own sizable salary comes off the books next summer, making Seattle more of an offseason player. And if the Sonics really are rebuilding around Rashard, Vladimir, Desmond, etc., then having Anderson around gives them the flexibility to seek the best value for Payton in a mid-season blockbuster deal to a team that's ready to make an all-or-nothing push for the Finals.

Payton is absolutely the heart and soul of the team...but you've gotta figure that his trade value will probably never be higher than it is now (am I wrong about that?), and I really don't see the Sonics improving fast enough to make a serious title run with him on the roster. If they trade him for some combination of young, promising talent and draft picks, they might have a chance of joining the Bulls in the ranks of possible future contender.

What I'm unsure of is who the trading partner would be. I'm sure New York, Portland, San Antonio, and a couple other teams would be interested, but I can't think of a fair deal.

I think Seattle will ask Gary for a list of teams he would like to be traded to and try to move him, especially if they are out of contention in the West. Otherwise, I think he will leave via free agency and it looks like the Sonics want to rebuild around Rashard Lewis. Golden State looks to be a major player in the free agency market and Payton would consider it because he's from that area.
