New Jersey Nets small forward Travis Outlaw has a broken right shooting hand and will be evaluated by the team's doctors this week, according to a statement from general manager Billy King.

The Nets have been pondering whether or not to waive Outlaw via the amnesty clause in order to rid themselves of the remaining four years and $28 million remaining on his contract in an effort to increase their cap space. He shot a career-worst 37.5 percent from the field last season after signing a five-year, $35 million deal with New Jersey.

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Outlaw suffered the injury while doing a boxing workout in the offseason. The report says the Nets don't know if they're going to amnesty Outlaw because they're uncertain of what the rules are for players injured during the lockout.

The 28-year-old Outlaw averaged 9.2 points per game in 2010-11. He also shot just 30.2 percent from 3-point range.
