Tyson Chandler = Joakim Noah Sr.?

Obviously he's a bit better than Noah, but I've been watching Florida and the thing that I can't get to escape my mind is the constant thought of "what is Joakim Noah failing to do that Tyson Chandler actually does do." The kid is 6'11" with the same build and he seems to grab every rebound and block or alter just about any shot that goes up in his area of the paint. I realize he may not be as good YET as Tyson Chandler and his 9+ RPG, BUT I think he will be within a couple years. Oh, and he can actually finish buckets close to the rim that an average NBA player should be able to finish, unlike Chandler.

This is not strictly to bash Chandler. I don't think it's bashing because it's pretty obvious that that is just my opinion of him. Tyson could be a wonderful person for all I know. Plus, last night, off the bench, he looked more like the Tyson I remember from last year. Finishing games strong and with energy and not having to worry about fouls. This is moreso to say that I think Noah is gonna be pretty freakin good.

Do any of you guys see similarities in their games?

Noah has better hands and offensive instincts. Tyson is bigger. They're both long and athletic.

Noah is a better college player than Chandler is a pro player. Of course, so was Sweetney.

I haven't seen much of Noah but the two of the three highlights had him bobbling the ball last night. He recovered and made the play, but he ain't playing in the big leagues, is he?
Tyson Chandler would be a BEAST in college.

I'm talking...Damn near averaging a triple double in points, rebs. AND blocks.

Seriously...No one should be able to leave for the draft until they Junior year like football.

So were a lot of guys who are better than Sweetney and Chandler now. What are you saying? That it's impossible to evaluate one guy v. another based on the fact that it's college? I guess the scouting people from various teams should just give up. After all, you can't really evaluate it. It's college. In fact, one guy, Michael Sweetney, was better in college than Tyson Chandler is in the pros and, that same guy, started ahead of Chandler last night. So that just proves it even more, or something.

Come on Johnston. We're not talking about things that Noah is only getting away with because of one trait that gives him a stunted advantage (Big Baby Davis, Ron Dayne, etc.). We're talking about the fact that he can do things like... make a layup. And you can say all you want that "oh well the guys in the NBA swatting at his hands will be able to knock the ball out cause they're stronger," and I'd reply that SPEEDY FRIGGIN CLAXTON swatted at Tyson's wrist as Tyson went up for the finish last night and almost dislodged Tyson's arms from his body.

Nothing is conclusive, I'm just saying they are similar players. In fact, I admitted that Tyson is better right now today than Noah. But Noah would be on a rookie contract if we drafted him and shipped Tyson, so I could live with him being 80% of the player Tyson is for 63 mill.

Why would he be a beast in college? Based on how fluid his game is and how much he's improved year to year in the pros?
It will be interesting who's stock goes higher Thomas or Noah. They will be two of the most energetic power fowards in the league. I doubt either will produce right away, but if one of them is available with our pick that would be sweet. Right now I'd go with Thomas, I think it's really close. Thomas is a superior athlete, Noah has a more well rounded game.

Actually my logic was:

If we could get Noah, we could ship Tyson and not really skip much of a beat if you count the salary difference.

Who ever said Noah and Chandler on the same team? LOL that would be hilarious.

My thing is this. If you're gonna get only 9 RPG out of a guy who "isn't asked to play offense" and is a supposed rebounding specialist, why not just pay him a scrub wage like Noah. Surely if Chandler is half as good as his supporters think he is, we could probably get Noah, a role-playing tall SG, and a first round pick for him. And I could see Noah being able to get 7 RPG and play no offense for us. Which is pretty close to what Tyson does.

I'm not really concerned with scouts objectivety, it's just posters on the board getting carried away.

that's not getting carried away, it's the TRUTH....chandler BARELY ever gets the ball past his shoulders before someone, even 6ft pg's KNOCK it away..it happens EVERY game..he's just really, WEAK
please forgive my ignorance as i have only been reading this board for about two weeks but are there always so many threads ripping on chandler

the guy has been quite disappointing most of the season but it just seems quite funny to be reaming a guy who just had 21 rebounds and 4 blocked shots last night

This board used to be one of his biggest supporters. However, his efforts all season have been less than what was expected. He's a very good game here or there, but can't seem to do it consistently. He has done very little to improve his overall game since coming in to the league.

As I ahve met him and had a conversatioin with him, I really was hoping the best for him. It also doesn't help that the guy we gave up for him is ahving an MVP type season for another team.

This board can be your biggest supporter or your biggest critic................it seems to be a very thin line.

Isnt that the truth!!
I hear a lot of people say Noah is raw, but from from what I've seen he has a very good all around game. He has done it all this tournament from finishing about everything around the rim, nailing his outside shot, passing, rebounding, defending etc. Hell, he can even catch the ball, what a concept!

If we can land one of Aldridge, Noah, and Thomas with the Knicks pick I'll be happy. I know Bargnani is out there as well but I hesitate to include him as I have yet to see him play and know little about his game.

While not an excuse for poor play, his rebounding per game average is skewed lower because of his poor play. This of course assumes that Tyson will one day become consistent over the course of a season, which I admit has not been the case as of yet.
