Underrated/Overrated
If forget who it was but someone a little while back on this board posted how Carmelo(I think) was being called underrated so much on this board he almost became overrated.
When I read that it hit me that there are quite a few players that are either very underrated on this board or very overrated.
I'd say some players that fit this category are:
1. Carmelo, he is a great player who is very clutch but Homers act like he is the best clutch player ever since Jordan and they greatly overrate him. At the same time some of the Haters act like he is nothing compared to LeBron/Wade witch is completely false.
2. Carter, some Nets/VC homers act like he is the best player ever and on Jordan's level or something(False), while some Heat/Wade fans act like he is garbage and not even top 20 in the League.(False)
3. Wade, exact same situation as Carter just switch the Nets/VC with Heat/Wade.
4. Dirk, some think he is the best shooter since Bird, and some people leave him off their top 5 PF list which I think is a travesty.
Who do you guys think are:
a.Underrated by some
b.Overrated by others

this happens all the time on this board, a few people will realise that a player is being under-rated by the press or the fans, and then go ahead and create 5 different threads saying that he's under-rated, should be an all star etc etc.
topic gets blown out of proportion and the player ends up being over-rated on here.
players like melo are a prime example, the guy was massivly under-rated this season until recently, and then there was mvp consideration talks which just blew it way out.
and there is no way steve nash is under-rated!... quite the opposite

It all depends on which group of homers is making and participating in the threads. Some players are often BOTH under and overrated on this very board, at the same time.

The original poster is asking not for the most over-rated/under-rated players, which can be ambiguous, as pointed out by the poster above me, but in fact, he's asking about the players in the league who are both under-rated & over-rated (i.e. over-rated by some people, and under-rated by others).
In my opinion, the top five -in no order- would be:
V. Carter
Y. Ming
M. Ginobili
D. Wade

How is Yao overrated? I think he's underrated on these boards, as are Gasol and Bosh. Overrated include Diaw and AK-47.
Parker nor Ginobili are overrated. Parker is actually underrated. He has been overrated in the past but currently both Parker and Gino are rather underrated. They have as many haters as any other player in the league and they get trashed on so much.

Exactly, there are some players(Carmelo for example) that are overrated OR uderrated by posters. Meaning HOMERS overrate them while HATERS underrate them. Why don't you try reading an entire post and not just the first couple lines.
