US Mens National Team Roster

I know nothings set in stone yet, so its abit premature, but i just wanted to discuss it now

Who do you think should be on the court at anyone time during olympics and/or other intl. games???

i want the US to succeed coz beyond CJ Bruton and Bogut, i couldn't less if australia came last.

but IMO bruce bowen or shane battier HAS to be on the court at any one time. if the US is getting torched by more than one guard, put them both on, battier's offense is still respectable so its not going to turn into 55-50 war of attrition.

i think big & smart players is what will help the US win games the most. so i would think having a big point guard like chauncey or even lebron and kobe running point would be most successful. along the same lines of size, the US NEEDS dwight howard at center for 30+min a game. unless the US is playing germany and dirk is making him step out to the perimeter, having that man-child just eat up every single loose ball above the rim will have more advantages than negatives.

and of course the US needs players who can just flat out shoot for situations where they start to lose grip as some crazy argentinian starts darting all over the place and all of a sudden they given up 15 straight points. its imperative that either michael redd, joe johnson, gilbert arenas or kobe are able to come out of a time out in a set play play and knock down a 3.

in terms of forward. i would have EB, odom and marion splitting up minutes at 3 and 4 to mix up heights and styles of play.

if i were setting the teams my starting 5 would be.

chauncey billups
kobe bryant
shane battier
elton brand
dwight howard

bench (in order listed)
arenas/kobe
redd/bowen
marion/johnson/bowen
odom/marion
bosh

EDIT: oops i forgot about lebron, **** ur country is loaded. how the hell do u lose????

yeh well obviously besides my mental lapse forgetting lebron, feel free to critique my oppinions and tell me who u think should be ON THE COURT AT THE SAME TIME. not just who should be playing

If someone posts the 22 players then I'll respond. I don't feel like looking for that thread right now.
I'm sorry I'm sure it was a good post but I stopped reading after:

That looks pretty good though.
There's no way Dwight Howard would be a starter at this point. He doesn't have the skills, the IQ or the experience. He's a physical freak but right now he doesn't have much of a range of offensive skills. You don't need that much muscle in the international game, so Bosh would be a better center.

All you need is these 3 guys: Chris Paul / Kobe Bryant / LeBron James...

And that has gold written all over it.

I like this, I'd maybe put Marion at PF and Howard or Amare at C.

I think by the time 2008 comes, Lebron and Paul will have a consistent perimeter shot to stretch the defenses.
Hell, LeBron already has one...and whenever I watch Paul (especially against the Lakers) he is always hitting his jumpers (the few that he takes). Paul is one bad mother f'er.

True. Add to the fact that the international line is what? 2 feet closer, and it's money from there. But I still think there should be one pure shooter in there, but I wouldn't know who to take out. I'd want to put Redd, Joe Johnson, or Billups in there with a squad as athletic as Kobe, Bron, and Marion.

Agreed. Though I don't want Redd on there. Something rubs me the wrong way with him.
