Can't knock Everett. He may not be shooting well right now but he's playing 28mpg and averaging .02 turnovers per minute.
lol, it’s hard to have a turnover when you’re never handling the ball and only waiting in the corner to launch the occasional brick as soon as you get the ball.

I’m not trying to be mean or harsh. I love Ev and wish he was more productive. I don’t want to be saying this either. But at some point the staff need to toughen up, grow a pair, and have that awkward conversation with the fifth-year senior leader.

Who exactly would you put in his place? It's not like the bench is littered with 3 pt shooters.

Led us with 7 rebounds- something we did pretty well as a team tonight.
Ev’s rebounds all just sort of fell-into-his hands or were tipped to him by insanely athletic moves by Lamb, Davis or Shungu. I am 100% confident Bailey or even Eric Beckett would’ve grabbed each one of those had they been in Ev’s place.

You can’t claim UVM “needs better 3pt shooting” then defend the guy glued to the perimeter and shooting 20%--and almost entirely from wide-open looks.

Albany is still a young team. Will be a major force next two years. We are going to need major leaps from some people to compete with them, Stony Brook and Hartford. But I’ll worry about that in October. Have to enjoy the few games left with Lamb before that.
Albany’s best defensive player by far and toughest player tonight-Romani Hansen- won’t be back next year and Clark, who I can’t say I’ve ever really loved his game, is putting together a nice senior year and playing more in control and playing real well as of late so need to be fair and give him credit. Anyways, neither of those two will be back and they were two of Albany’s best players tonight.

Keys for Albany after 2019-20:

1. Healy stays put and doesn’t grad transfer.
2. De Sousa can be coached up. He has a lot of raw talent but there’s too much East coast AAU circuit in his game and not enough real D1 player still.
3. Rizzuto plays like he did tonight more frequently.

If De Sousa and Rizzuto turn into more reliable, consistent players and Healy is back and they can fill in around those 3, could be solid. They also have to all get serious about defense.

I wasn’t necessarily defending Everett simply pointing out he literally led us in rebounding tonight when someone questioned what he did.

I’ve been pretty critical of Everett and just have to hope at some point he’s going to start hitting his 3s. Have a hard time seeing Becker changing his role right now.

They have been far better on D this year then last year... Kenpom bears this out. Also only the second team in ae play to break 60 on uvm... They put up 75 on that vaunted defense.

Hansen as of late started coming around but mostly disappointing this season. Amica coming in at point... Will be a 4 year starter.

Im sure brown will load up on 2 or 3 jucos to fill in around the core.

Agreed on de Sousa... Rizzuto hasn't been good all year either but lately showing flashes. Hutch didn't play well today... Lamb way to much ball player for him and game was to big for him but will be on all rookie team. Really a great looking frosh. Brown needs to find 2 athletic bigs and a PG in case Jojo can't get healthy. Can't have a freshman with no decent backup.

With a specialist like Healy.. Gotta always worry about him leaving. That kid can play and shoot at any level because he has what few can do at this level.

Btw... What ever happened to mitch Doherty... Was highly recruited and has basically been a zero. Hanks is turning into a serviceable big though. Lulka... Smh...

On paper Albany looks like a front runner team next year. Did Hutcheson play in the second half today? I was thinking Brown might have kept him on the bench due to defense? Is that Doherty kid on the Albany squad? I thought he was going to be the big freshman get this year?

I think sbu will be front runner... Doherty completely lost the few times he's played. Really surprising. Hutch played in second half but was ineffective...he's been so good lately but also has a bad back right now and hasn't been practicing a few weeks. How good Albany can or will he will depend on amica...lets hope he's the kid that had buffalo offer... He's tearing it up right now in hs but this is a different level. Who knows how he adjusts. Jojo was supposed to be the big addition in the back court... Kid has a messed up knee all season that's robbed him of all athletics. Nevada kid... They finally shitg him down for second knee surgery.

The dude's been to the line 2nd most on the team (tied with Stef) behind Lamb and shooting .889 and contributing 11% of the team's points, but my point was that he handles the ball well and that's why he's in the game. We don't even need to talk about who's got the 2nd most boards on the team.

it's Everett Duncan. Though I haven't looked at the box score from tonight and, to be fair, part of the reason he's got more boards than Giddens and Davis is definitely related to the number of minutes he plays, and that's related to how good he is as a ball handler and why the coaches will play him over other options.

I hate to see the injury to Giddens since he’s a quality guy who tries hard to contribute. But in all honesty, this could be an opportunity to groom Ryan Davis for the role that he needs to fill in the post-Lamb world. UVM will need Davis and Smith to provide rebounding and scoring in Anthony’s absence and it may be time for Davis to start playing 30 minutes a game and taking charge on the inside. From what he’s done in his last four games, it looks as if he may be ready for it.

Rather humerus moment... Student section on lambs first fts of the night chanting over rated at him... Bwahaha... Dudes proceeds to drop a 30-spot.

Lamb was absolute carrying uvm through most of the first half. Needless to say... The chanting stopped... Haha...

Thought I'd beat everyone to the punch and start this thread a few days early. It's normally a d measuring contest between UA and UVM fans on this board, but UVM has clearly been the man the last few seasons. It feels like it's been a decade since Albany has beaten UVM.

Will this be the one? I doubt it if the team is still limping like they are today. I doubt Lulka will play. Hutch, deSousa, and Rizzuto all aren't 100%. I'm hoping for a good game, but something tells me the game will go like this:

UA jumps out to an early lead, and the crowd is loud and involved. UA will be winning by double digits 10 minutes into the first half. They will then go into a funk and go 8 minutes without a field goal allowing UVM back into the game. It will be tied or within a couple at halftime. UVM then dominates the second half and wins by 12.

Hope I'm wrong, but that is this Albany teams MO.
Looks like I was pretty darn close. UA didn't run out to an early lead, but did play an extremely strong first half. It was within 2 at half-time (the 3 at the buzzer shouldn't have counted due to a travel but it just switched who was winning). UA had it's normal 8-10 minute scoring drought at the start of the second half instead of the end of the first, and UVM dominated the second half for a win by 11 instead of 12.

I didn't post it here, but the biggest thing I was wrong on that I shared with multiple people was: the over under on the game was 135. I said if the under wins, it's UVM all day. If the over wins, UA would have the advantage. That went out the window with Lamb unable to miss a shot.

Honestly... You guys are in for a bit of a shock when he leaves. He's is that special. I honestly struggle to see what this team will look like without him. Special kid that makes everyone around him so much better. This is going to be a monumental shift for uvm next year.

When Albany was balls to the wall in the first half he single handily kept got you lead l... When he went out albany went on a tear forcing Becker to put him back in with 2 fouls. Albany was having its way without him.

I've been thinking the same thing. I think it is going to be a culture shock next year after so many good years of being the cream of the crop. Recruiting at some of the other schools is pretty impressive and they have some impressive young players. Not that I'm saying UVM will be bad but don't see how they will be the power they have been short of a terrific last scholly or two which ever it is. Hope the coaching can pull off the miracle but they are going to have some potential deficits up front and shooting .

I'm thinking Becker is leaving him in ;,aside from experience, but because he has been an excellent 3 pt shooter historically and at some pt like Lamb he will regain his touch. It is somewhat of a mystery and must be really tough for him.

The Cats’ only incoming freshman for next year is a 6-9 post player out of Montreal by way of North Carolina named Georges Lefebvre. Georges looks pretty athletic on film but you can never tell with HS bigs who are facing smaller opponents. If he can contribute down low right away it could free up Ryan Davis to move around the court on offense - he’s actually a pretty fair perimeter shooter in addition to his scoring inside. If Ryan has to be the only presence in the paint that Vermont has then yes, the Cats are likely to struggle.

After this season I don’t think Becker will have the option of leaving. At least not anywhere where‘d want to go. He’s not going to uproot for some mediocre A10 or MAC/MVC school just to get a $50k-70k salary bump.

He wants to coach in the Big East. That’s fairly apparent and will wait for something to open up now that his kids have/will graduate from HS and Ant will have graduated. However, this Season’s struggles have definitely hurt his stock and chances of an BE offer.

Any coach who has (at least) 3 NCAA appearances and 4 regular season conference titles in 9 years always has the option of leaving if he wants it.
