I was told they're trying to work the transfer portal and junior college route hard. They have 1 commitment coming in as a freshman that I think is known about. Women's basketball gets 15 scholarships, so they have 6 spots to try and fill...and they might want to grab a few walk ons for good measure to get the numbers up and have some stability there.
The article points out she's the first Vermonter to join the team since 2012. The best player in the state is going to Maine next year. Never going to knock anyone for going where they want to go to college, but UVM could have used some of the recent VT girls who went to at D1 college, so hopefully this is a trend to start getting a few of them thinking about staying home again.
Women's team has been busy getting a few new commitments. Credit to the new sports anchor from Fox 44 for being the only one covering it, especially when the team is easy to overlook these days. Hopefully these players can help bring the quality back up.

The Minnesota native signed a professional deal with Esperides Kallitheas of A1 Ethniki, UVM announced Monday.
It's sad she played in the worst stretch in UVM women's basketball history and isn't going to be remembered as much by most, but she really was the only thing keeping this team from being a 2-3 win team and got her way into the record book as one of the league's best players.
