Free throws alone could have turned losses to SBU and Dayton (both at home) into wins. And they almost cost us last night. I'm thrilled we left with the W, no road win is easy. But the turnovers and free throws are just hard to watch. Especially because they were points of emphasis in the offseason.
One thing that drives me nuts is that VCU's big men have tunnel vision. They get the ball and do not have forethought or vision of spacing or the court. They simply think....what am I gonna do to get my shot off. Bull through the defender or shoot a fall away jumper. It is crazy! I know VCU has not been shooting 3s well but they are all coming off the dribble or perimeter passing. They need the bigs to be aware and kick out. Also, the off ball movement is sporadic and undisciplined which results in poor spacing and poor shots.

Who runs the offense on the staff? Is it Rhoades? I'm pretty sure Brunt handles the defensive side. There are just so many obvious flaws in the offense, just like what you mentioned here. I just don't think anything is going to change, though.

JD Byers. There are issues since Ace went off for 37 and it is now that he is looking to shoot more. He needs to go back to running the offense and getting his shots when he is open. Spacing is a big big issue. The 3s are rushed and almost an afterthought. They need to be set up better for good shots. It has been a mess all year except for about a 4 game stretch.

Thanks. I wasn't sure how that was handled. I agree that since Ace's big game he's been trying to do it all and force it. He's so deadly when he lets the game come to him and gets everyone involved instead of trying to do it all himself. And, I'd say it's been a mess for multiple seasons now, not just this year.

Well yeah. That is the past so I forget about it.

My group has settled on Village Cafe for Saturday pre-game. We are meeting up a bit before noon. One in our group has VCU family, so we will be stuck with them. LOL
@AlienAiden , not sure what your plans are, but if that does not work, perhaps we can meet up post-game.

I am flexible. I love the Village but I tend to stay away because it gets crowded. I don't think they take reservations but I have never tried. I will stop by.

They used to take reservations. I only know that because ODU fans reserved several tables one year, leaving some big tables empty for a long time, and us VCU fans had to go somewhere else.

I am old school so when I went to VCU the Village was on the other corner. It was an OG hipster artist place back in those days.

It was a hipster/artist place in my days, too (current corner). One of my roommates was an art student, so we were there all the time, ha! But since it was the only bar so close to the Siegel Center, it became impossible to get in game days. I'm surprised more places haven't opened on Harrison or around the corner on Grace.

I usually go to the Camel on Broad but lately I have been going to Leigh Street. Two small places owned by the same people. Cobra Cabana and Hot for Pizza.

Oh nice. I've been wanting to try both of those. Hot for Pizza is in the old Corner Bar & Grille spot. I used to live on Henry Street and would go there all the time before/after games.

And yeah, the Camel is great, but also is hard to get a place on game days. And you leave there smelling like a deep fryer. City Dogs was my usual pregame spot for years. Definitely a hike, but I loved that place and it's a great place for games.

Good food. Easy parking and a couple of blocks to walk.

I remember going to games at the Coliseum when I was a kid. But the Stu had been around for a few years before I got there. My freshman year was Jeff Capel's first as a coach.
Perfect timing. You did not have to deal with the dark years after 1987 until your sophomore year.
