Does anyone know if there is a grain of truth to this rumor? Vin Baker seems like an expensive backup to Walker, which is what I assume he would be, unless the thought is that he would play the 5 in the mostly center-deprived East. And Walker has been very adverse to sliding over to the 3 in the past.

Even if I were more excited about Baker as a Celtic, I might be even more excited about seeing Kenny Anderson's contract come off the cap next summer. What is Boston thinking?

Where did you hear about this trade? Who is involved? The only deals I think Boston will do is something involving Kenny Anderson, then again I can be wrong...

The possible trade was outlined on ESPN.com, and picked up on realgm.com also.

If Anderson were to be traded, wouldn't the rumored Tinsley & Croshere package make more sense? Does anyone believe Baker at center would give the Celtics a better chance at going to the next level, with Delk/Bremer/Forte at the point?

I agree. Croshere and Tinsley make Boston contenders, but what about Omar Cook? I see him starting somewhere...

Evidently the Celtics have already cut Cook, since Bremer outplayed him in the summer games.

I was a fan of Cook coming out of college, although I did fear he was leaving much too early. I honestly haven't seen him play since then, so I don't know how realistic it is to say he'll start somewhere. If I were him, though, I'd be calling up Denver, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, New Jersey...all teams that need at least one more quality PG.

It is only one part of a thread so it wont help. Sorry for this confusion it was my fault. In my post all it is is the link.

Moderator Note (devestata): No need to apologize, next time just comment on the topic on hand princetolakers. I didn't see your thread on this, so I commented on it, as you should next time. I am just requesting that you stay on topic. Thanks- devestata.

vin to boston rumors

seattle papers are saying its pretty much a done deal.from the seattle standpoint they get rid of vinny's big contract.he struugles against the western conferances great pf's.they dont really care who they get in return as long as the contracts(andersons)dont last beyond this year.
boston may like the prospects of vin being more dominant in the east.my only problem with their perpective is he becomes their highest paid (i assume)and 3rd best player, never a good combination.

Geez guys, stay on topic here...

I read that ESPN article earlier and I also heard something on Sportcenter, after getting all of this info, this is what I think the trade will look like:

Boston gets:
Vin Baker
Shammond Williams or Earl Watson

Seattle gets:
Vitali (sp?) Potapenko and or Eric Williams
Kenny Anderson
Joseph Forte

Actually the trade works without Williams (S) and Forte, also Williams (E) will stay with the C's since he is OB favorite player.

This trade would be great for the Celtics which will give us about an extra 1.6 million until the lux. tax and we might also be able to resign Rodney.

I just don't see how this deal really helps either team overall.

I'm willing to believe Baker can be useful at the 4 and 5 in the East, maybe posting 8-15 ppg and 5-7 rpg, depending on playing time. But the Celtics just plain don't have a legitimate PG with Anderson gone. The best they can do is put Delk there and hope he improves his FG%, and run the offense through Walker more than ever.

The Sonics clear some cap space next summer, but they don't have a reasonable scoring threat in the post without Baker. Say what you want about his lethargy--he does have his uses. And I don't buy Radmanovic as a power forward; he's just too skinny.

This is the worst trade every, BUT having Kenny Anderson was like NOT having him, the only difference between him and another point guard is that he SUCKS. He is called a true point guard that can't do anything but take the C's money. He was NOT a reason for the sucess we had.

Yeah, he did. I think this trade really made no sense for either team, JMO...
