To celebrate a new era in team history marked by its exciting first round selection (10th overall) in the NBA draft, the Miami HEAT is hosting a fun-filled Draft Party on Wednesday, June 26, at the AmericanAirlines Arena. The free event, which is open to all fans, will begin at 6 p.m., in anticipation of the 7 p.m. draft start time. Free parking will also be provided on the premises. In addition to the thrill of watching live coverage of the NBA draft and the HEAT’s pick on the AA Arena’s scoreboard, fans will also be treated to player autograph sessions, prizes, performances from the HEAT’s entertainment team, contests, collectible card shows, an interactive zone and a special address from HEAT President and Head Coach Pat Riley.
As part of the festivities, HEAT players will be on hand for a free autograph session and will recount their Draft Day memories during live interviews on HEAT TV. Miami HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley will also address the crowd before and after the HEAT’s selection, giving fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the difficult thought process that occurs on Draft Day.
Upon entering the AA Arena, each fan in attendance will receive a HEAT goodie bag filled with assorted items, such as a raffle ticket for prize giveaways, a SOL ticket voucher, and a Bobblehead Bingo card, enabling them to play for one of 500 HEAT player bobblehead dolls to be given away during the event. In addition, fans that correctly select the order of the first 10 draft choices, during a HEAT Draft Party contest, will have the opportunity to win two Club Chivas Regal (premium seats) season tickets for the upcoming HEAT season.
The Miami HEAT Draft Party will also include an interactive fun zone, located in the lower bowl of the AA Arena, featuring pop-a-shot baskets, bounce houses and other games for kids of all ages. Fans will also be treated to the antics of Burnie the mascot, as well as performances by the HEAT Dancers and the HEAT Xtreme Team, who will dazzle the crowd with their high-flying dunks and acrobatic maneuvers. The event also will include a trading card show, featuring basketball cards and other memorabilia. Fans can also take advantage of the services of world renowned Mike Baker of Global Authentication, who will be onsite to authenticate collectibles.
