The Atlanta Falcons return home to the Georgia Dome to take on the Green Bay Packers this weekend. The Falcons will break a franchise attendance record dating back to 1974 on Sunday as the team sells out its 29th consecutive regular season game.
Between 1971-74, the Falcons sold out 28 consecutive regular season games at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. From the beginning of the 2002 season, Atlanta has averaged 70,068 fans per game at the Georgia Dome.
This is the first time the two teams have faced each other since their 2002 NFC Wild Card, when the Falcons became the first team to win a playoff game in Lambeau Field by defeating the Packers 27-7.
Atlanta (6-2) is currently sitting atop the NFC South with the Carolina Panthers, while the Packers (1-7) are in fourth place in the NFC North. Green Bay QB Brett Favre leads the Packers.
Favre has completed 194-of-296 passes for 2,064 yards with 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. WR Donald Driver ranks first among Green Bay receivers with 41 catches for 596 yards and three scores.
Atlanta has done most of its damage on the ground this season, thanks primarily to the legs of RB Warrick Dunn. Dunn, in his ninth season, has rushed 160 times for 820 yards (5.1 avg.) and three scores. QB Michael Vick, who has completed 88-of-157 passes for 951 yards and six touchdowns, is second on the team in rushing, scampering for 340 yards on 57 carries (6.0 avg.). Vick has also found the end zone three times this season on the ground.
This is the 22nd all-time meeting between the two franchises, with Green Bay holding a slim 11-10 advantage. The teams have met twice in the postseason, splitting the series.
