Game Preview:

FALCONS FACE NFC SOUTH FOE

A pair of 6-3 teams square off in an important NFC South showdown this Sunday as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to the Georgia Dome to take on the Atlanta Falcons. Both teams find themselves one game out of first place, trailing the 7-2 Carolina Panthers.

Atlanta is 13-10 all-time against Tampa Bay, having faced the Buccaneers 15 times since 1990. The two teams split their games last season, with both teams winning at home. Atlanta beat Tampa Bay 24-14 in Week 10 last year, and Tampa Bay returned the favor in Week 13, defeating Atlanta 27-0.

The matchup features the two youngest coaches in the NFC with Falcons Head Coach Jim Mora turning 44 on November 19th and Bucs Head Coach Jon Gruden being the youngest at the age of 42.

The Falcons are 5-5 all-time against Tampa Bay in games played in Atlanta with a 3-0 record at Fulton-County Stadium and a 2-5 mark at the Georgia Dome.

QB Michael Vick has faced Tampa Bay five times in his career, completing 45-of-95 passes for 543 yards and four touchdowns. He has also done damage with his legs, rushing for 203 yards on 36 carries (5.6 avg.), including six runs of 10 or more yards. RB Warrick Dunn, who was drafted by Tampa Bay (by current Falcons President and General Manager Rich McKay) in 1997, faces the Buccaneers for the fifth time in his career.

Tampa Bay is coming off a 36-35 victory at home over Washington, while Atlanta plays its second consecutive game inside the Georgia Dome as it comes off a 33-25 loss to Green Bay.

Atlanta is 17-8 in the regular season under Mora, and has only lost back-to-back games under Mora once, falling in Weeks 16 and 17 of the 2004 season after a playoff berth was clinched.
