It was on the ESPN2

It was scrolling on the draft followup program at midnight EST on ESPN2. Apparently it is Person for Memphis's 2nd 2nd round pick Matt Barnes/SF/UCLA

more on the trade

Person to Memphis for Nick Anderson and the rights to Barnes.

You said it is good for Memphis? Not so sure. Person cannot create his own shot, and has a bigger and longer contract than Anderson, plus we get a younger player that we can drop for free if needed. Glad you are happy, cuz I am VERY HAPPY we got rid of Person. Anderson can rot on the bench for a year, then he is a FA.

Cleveland had a great draft. They got Dajuan Wagner, Carlos Boozer, and now Matt Barnes. They'll probably get either Ely or Wilcox aswell once the Clippers and Cavs make a deal.

The Cavs wanted to get rid of Person, to make their team younger. And, if they can't trade Andre Miller, Wagner will have to play SG and Ricky Davis will play SF. So, Person wouldn't get many minutes at all. Matt Barnes will be a great role player for Cleveland. However, the Cavs also got Nick Anderson (and he's great player now:laugh: ). It's a good trade for both teams.

Well

To Heatlunatic.... by the way, congrats on getting Butler- the player CAvs SHOULD've taken... but seeing most of the Cavs games, Wesley does suck. He needs his minutes to get in the groove, but he plays poor def, and brings NOTHING to the game except occasional 3's. You can have him. He is not a big time player, and a minimal role player. He will disappear on the Memphis team, and they will cut him when his heavy contract is up.

To X Factor.... Cavs DID NOT have a great draft. Wagner is not a point, and he will only take minutes from a blooming Ricky Davis. Davis WILL NOT play SF... he isn't strong enough or play good enough Def... besides, they already have Lamond Murray who IS a solid SF, and Jumaine Jones, who is a good back-up.
Boozer is a tweener.,... will be a back-up at PF. He MAY be a starter for the Cavs if Tyrone Hill is out, but IF the Cavs make a trade with LAC it will be for Wilcox probabbly... so Boozer is anouther waste pick.

The ONLY thing I was happy about was the trade to dump Person and his salary. Nick Anderson only has 1 year left, we can eat it and drop his $ off the cap, and Barnes may or may not make the team- who cares... he's a free pick. I wanted Butler with the 1st pick, and the best PG in the 2nd round to back up Andre WHO THEY SHOULD SIGN TO A FREAKIN' CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Draft Day Trades
Wow!!! Jamal Sampson was traded twice. He's been on three NBA teams in less than a day! He's like the Brendan Haywood of last year's draft.:D

To Mongolmike...you're wrong. The Cavs had a great draft. I meant that if the Cavs didn't trade Miller, and they wanted to start Wagner and Davis, Miller would obviously be PG, Wags would be SG and Davis would have to play SF.

But, they will make a trade, so Wagner will play PG. Did you watch the draft? The TNT guys (Charles, Kenny, Ernie, Hubie, and Quinn) were saying how much Wagner impressed scouts, by showing them that he could play PG very well in the NBA. Wagner will play the PG, Davis will play SG, and probably Murray will play SF. If Boozer is given enough PT, he can be a good PF in the NBA.

time will tell

there may be trades in the making yet, and to date neither Ricky nor Andre have resigned, nor has Wagner proven that he can play point in the NBA. Coach Lucas was very impressed with Wagner, but he will not be an immediately effective PG in the NBA (if Andre is traded), having only been a scorer/shooter his whole life. Passing and dribbling the ball are one thing, but being able to distribute well, let alone make the unbelievable pass are things you need in a true point.

Maybe Wagner will be like the Jason WIlliams, Mike Bibby type PGs with the score first, pass 2nd style, and maybe we will like it and win with it.... time will tell.

And I'm not sold on Boozer either. Not quick enough for PF, not big enough/strong enough to battle centers and some PFs.... how is he gonna stick with Webber, or Garrnett? How would he fare against Duncan or Wallace or Karl? Time will tell, and I need to be convinced by what I see on the court when these two excellant college players have to make the big stepup to the pro level.

However, it is good to see that you and some others like these picks.... hope you are all right, and I am very wrong!
