Not counting tonight, so far East starting 5 made 1603 shots on 3842 shot attempts, that's 41.7% . West starting 5 made 1589 on 3408 attempts, that's 46.6%, a 5% difference, pretty big, isn't it?

That can be explained by simply looking at the type of players selected to the teams.

Iverson, Carter, Mcgrady are all volume shooting wing players.

Duncan, Garnett, Yao all take high percentage shots. And Kobe and Francis don't shoot as much as Iverson and others.

That's how it is.

Doesn't mean the East won't win.

Pretty much yes, it does. ;)
Nah. For one shot games you gotta go with the East's guard play. The big boys out west don't can't run it up and down the floor and do the showboating that the East can.

At some point in the game the East will throw this lineup out there and squash the West:
Kidd
Iverson
Carter
Mcgrady
Lebron

They'll just run it up and down the court. Carter and Mcgrady can both be shot blockers. Iverson, Kidd, and Lebron are steal machines. It's not like Shaq is going to take Lebron into the post and throw him into the back support. He'll instead injure himself trying to cross Lebron up on the perimeter.

West always has a better lineup on paper. But the East has the better All-star team. Or at the very least the one that is the most exciting.

allstar games are a joke pretty much

the big men aren't going to play tough defense... In situations where they would normally be swatting and taking guys down, they just let dunks flow freely

Please, keep dreaming. Since when has the East had the better All Star team, it just isn't true. What's the West's record against the East the past 10 years? Who won last year?

I would love for LeBron to try and guard Shaq, he'd get worked to the ground.

By better All-star team, I mean they have a better team for just going out there cold without having played with each other and playing better, because they are all guards basically.

And last year's game went to Overtime. People always think the West is going to crush the East because of their size, but rarely does size play any role in the game.
