I think its what this team needs...a solid VET who can score. It would help Bassy so much if we could get him a real SG next to him. Im sure the Raptors would consider it since they look worse then the knicks right now. Personally if not Pierce i'd say get Rose. He only has like 2-3 years left and would be nice while we develop Martell. Im sure we could trade Outlaw/picks witha ruben type player while we get Rose and maybe a backup PF.

Lineup wouldnt be all that bad!

Telfair/Jack/Blake
ROSE/Dixon/Webster
Miles/webster/Victor
Zach/Monia
Pryz/Theo

since outlaw isn't playing, and his stock is still high from last year, we should trade him along with ruben. or trade ruben and a 1st round pick for rose. we might have to give up another player, maybe charles smith, but i could see that trade helping us. but i think for us to be a real contender we need to go for paul pierce. i think he would help everybody involved.

No. We don't want a over 30 yrs of age combo SG/SF for our youth movement. Let me guess, you'd offer up our young hopefuls in exchange?

I'm almost certain, that the $$ don't match up and we could not trade Outlaw for Rose.

if he didn't have a huge contract left..if he wasn't malcontent...and if he was 3 years younger...MAYBE.

getting rose would be a huge step backwards.

i'd give up theo and a pick for rose. or even theo and outlaw since nate isn't using him at all right now. we have enough young guys that losing one wouldn't hurt us.

Rose is the guy I want. He has a contract that expires the same year as both Patterson and Derek Anderson, so he really doesnt mess with our cap room too much. He can be a 2 year starter, and when his contract runs out he we can move Webster into the starting lineup.

I think that McMillian could get Rose playing at his Indiana level again, or at least near that level. If we can deal any combo of Ratliff, Patterson, Dixon, Blake, maby the Det. 1st rounder for Jalen I think its a trade we should do. I also think we should try and get a big man back in the trade.

Here is a wild idea..

Portland Trades
-Theo to NY
-Patterson to NY
-Blake to TO
-Det 1st Round Pick to TO

Toronto Trades
-Jalen to PDX
-EWilliams to NY
-Araujo to PDX

NY Trades
-Penny to TO
-Q or Craw to TO

Wouldn't that be fudgetastically ironic? The only reason we didn't aquire Vince Carter is that we refused to take on Rose, and the Raptors end up shipping Carter off for less to the Nets. Now do we want to come around again and take Rose off their hands?

No thank you...

I was interested this summer... but not now. He has 2 years and $33 mil left on his deal.. way too much money for the return.

I would consider Theo + Dixon + Smith for Jalen, but not sure if I would go through with it, with what Theo did last night. I do not see where we would have much depth at C/F then. Only if we got anothre PF/C in a seperate deal

Ruben + Dixon + ? (I doubt it too)
I still think Ruben opts out and goes elsewhere next year. IMHO

I want to see more Sergei and Martell with Smith as the defensive specialist. Last night it was interesting they used Ruben

you wouldn't trade theo for one good game? jalen rose would bring us at least 15 points and maybe 5 boards a game, along with ok defense at the 2 spot. theo has a good game once every 2 weeks if that. the trade off works in our favor. we already have a player like theo in joel. i think this is a no brainer. theo, smith and outlaw for rose would be the best move. or theo, smith and a pick. but i would rather go for pierce.

when Jalen rose can play backup PF and C, maybe we contemplate doing more than laughing at the trade.

making us even thinner at the 4 and 5 spot, for a malcontent at the 2 spot really is a step backwards.

Maybe if he was a star still (or at all)..but he's not.

It really would depend on who went out. The only person I would be willing to trade for Rose is Patterson... and their salaries don't match up. If Toronto sweetened the pot somehow I might consider it, but Idoubt they would so I don't think he's the option we want. If I'm going to pay well for someone I'd rather it be Pierce.

Rose definitely would help us this year, but I'm not sure it's worth the price it would take.

I am not against trading Theo at all... or anybody else for that matter if it helps the team.

BUT

if you did that trade at all for Rose.... your being very risky roster wise...

the only person you have to backup Joel at center is Ha. If Joel gets hurt, we are going to be in big trouble

If Zach goes down.... you better hope Nate wises up and activates Victor.... no one else has the strength to play PF 30-40 minutes a game.

My criticism for Nash is his lack of getting us a higher quality SG and A BACKUP PF....

Rose does provide offensive punch and some D. I would of preferred him this summer to Dixon and Smith, and the extra SF such as Ruben.

definetly agree on him not getting a backup pf. but he also did a lousy job at getting a 2 guard. if miles and zbo can keep it up for the season, then he is good there. so to make his moves work, theo has got to go for someone who can score. if we had 1 other person with just 8 points, we win by 5.

No to Rose. He's too old and costs way to much for what he brings. As pointed out above, trading Theo would leave us horrendously thin at the 4 and 5. We could also write off keeping Joel if they bring in a big multi year contract.

joel isnt tearing it up to the point of not resigning him. he had like 2 points and 8 boards last night.

The season is young. Joel will do better. But if Joel isn't doing well, isn't that all the more reason to keep Theo? The alternative to Joel being Ha, if Theo is shipped out? **shuddering**

I agree.

Dixon and Monia might not be the answer, but after the last few games I'm starting to see how they can work out. One of the announcers last night compared Dixon to Starks, to help define a "streaky shooter." The announcer said something like "if he's not hitting, you just take him out." Sure it would have been nice if Juan had been 4-6 instead of 0-6 the other day, but he won't ever shoot 0-20. If he's on he's on, and if he's off you take him out.

That said, a premiere SG on this team would be great. But at what cost?

Rose could be a good peice for a team that is trying to win it this year. For us he will just take time away from our youngings, the 12 point pledge anyone? is that that not even around anymore lol. I love Rose as a player and how he can take over the game, imo its just not worth it for a young team such as Portland. also i doubt rose wants to come to another rebuilding project, stay in toronto or a playoff bound team is about right.
