I havent seen anything this year from him in the 4th quarter when last year he was tearing it up in the final qtr. the recent game against the blazers, they had a chance to tie the game late in the 4th and yet gordon was on the bench. any reason why? isnt he the best option at that stage of the game?

He is playing more minutes. He can't just save energy to finish games anymore, especially since his defensive expectations are higher. He is playing more minutes, and expected to spend more energy in other aspects of the game other than scoring. Plus he isn't a surprise anymore, teams know they have to give him attention. A combination of things has limited his 4th quarter effectiveness this year.
I'm still undecided about Gordon. He has unreal skills, but I just wish he was 4 inches taller. I think his height will always be a crutch, unless he can find himself in a situation playing with a point forward type player. He would be great in the Derek Fisher role, or the Ron Harper role. Obviously I'm not speaking of calibur with those comparisons, but he needs to be a scoring guard, where his ball handling duties are light, and where he isn't matched up with opposing shooting guards.

Sir Patchwork nailed it. Last year he could come in for his 25 minutes or so, launch as many shots as he pleased (13 FGAT's in 25mins), and have all his energy that he didn't expend playing defense, playing big minutes before the 4th Q, ready to close the game. Shooting 35% really doesn't help his case for being in the game when it really counts, either...

if the guy does`nt have the energy to play major minutes in a game then he should`nt even be in the nba,iverson plays 45 minutes a night,brings the ball up the court and takes 25 shots a game.P-Dub34 said:
The longer he spends in the league then the more the good defensive players get to know his moves/prefences, so he has to keep improving and adding to his arsenal or he will become predictable and easier to defend

Ben Gordon is a spectacular spurt scorer, one of the most talented in the last half decade or so. But he isn't playing in the clutch this year because of bad decision-making, lack of ballhandling and subpar defense. He's like a 6'2" Michael Redd, a guy who can shoot the hell out of the ball but also a guy who brings pretty much nothing else to the table outside of scoring (when he's on).

Gordon is at least more athletic than Redd. Why is BGizzle such a poor defender? It seems like he should be a top-notch one when considering his agility and quickness.

Don't know. It's kind of frustrating, as he has the physical tools. He can't begin to stay in front of PG's, he doesn't know how to defend against screens, and nearly every SG in the NBA is taller than him.

it requires more than just speed and agility to defend, you have to understand defensive positioning, reaction time, and all that. nash is fast and agile but cant defend either.TonyMontana_83 said:
