What if Amare doesn't end up like last year?

What if he doesn't get back to his original form? After surgery like that, I just don't know if I can see him coming back to the same explosiveness as last year. That's gonna be really sad, he was just so damn fun to watch.

dont worry, he's not going to turn into Shawn Kemp.
He'll be fine. He's young, it'll be much easier for him that it is for guys a few years older than him.
They've actually gotten worse trying to integrate Amare back into the system w/ all the chemistry they've built w/out him but it's only gonna be brief b/c D'Antoni is a great coach & he'll figure things out & Amare will get better as the season goes along.

We'll see if time can get him back to form, but as far as your question. If he is never the same, besides the obvious disappointment of the game losing one of it's cornerstones of the future (last year the majority picked him over LeBron James for the future, which is amazing), it's just a reminder that these guys do earn their money.

We love to throw around the "they make millions to play a game" type stuff, but really, it is a hard job. Your body is always hurting in one way or another, you get no sleep, you're always away from your family and friends, you're on a plane for so often every week, and you're expected to perform or else you'll be criticized by the media.

Why does Amare Stoudemire's situation remind me of that? These guys play hardnose, competitive, aggressive basketball almost 24/7. That's part of their job. It's just a law of numbers that some guys are going to injure themselves beyond full repair. Sometimes it's a roleplayer, but sometimes it's a future superstar like Penny or like Amare.

Gotten worse? I wouldn't say 2-1 is worse. And we beat a semi hot Denver team too. He's also only been playing 16-20 mins in these games too.

I do know I'll cry if he doesn't get back to the way he was....

If that's the case, we might have to put Amareca on suicide watch.

LOL, oh man.

I'd expect they get plenty of sleep -- just at odd times. Not getting enough sleep would hugely affect an athlete's performance.
It's way too early to worry about him not getting all the way back. Now, it's very possible that he won't get all the way back this season--I'd say it's likely. That may hurt the Suns in the short term, but no reason yet to sweat whether Amare will ever be the same guy.
What if Amare doesn't love Amareca?
I'm just saying, everyone that has had this surgery has slowed down. Even if you are young, I'm just scared he might end up like an average post player.

But he's young, he has magical healing powers. Or something like that.

Yeah a lot of suns fans and amare homers tend to think. I mean its the same surgury, Penny, Houston, Webber, McDyess, Lafonso Ellis, Danny Manning had...you know the list...

Its going to be really hard for him to come back to form based on history of this surgury. Him being an avg 5 years younger then the other players who had that surgury gives him no advantage...
Ok, that is a scary list of players. But I still think it's too early to make a guess at this--Amare's not going to be right until next year, anyway.
OH no by no means am i saying hes done, its just that list...It has to scare you ya know..
It would suck to see such a career go down like this if thats the case. But i'll wait over the next few games and next year before ill make any real judgements.
Yea the list of players is scary. I just can't picture him being the same explosive force he was last season. I hope I'm wrong, but it's not looking good.

That is a scary list of players, but you can't tell me 5 years of youth is not an advantage.

I really think he should stay out for the rest of this season. His future is too bright to take any risk like that. The suns are playing well without him, they should take this as an opportunity to keep developing their role players. They can start with a fresh Amare next year and be better than ever (assuming Amare is ready even by then).
See himt he past few games? This was why I was cautious. Amareca rolled his eyes at me when I said anyone can score 20 points on Steve Nash's team... well I was right.
