For me, basketball has been there for me no matter how bad it got. Basketball is the only place I feel I can control my circumstances, where fault is only my own, where I can channel all my negative energy into positive energy. Basketball is the place where I feel rewarded for working hard, changing my life for it, and sacrificing other things in the name of becoming a greater player. I've learned to play for love of the game and not out of desire for external rewards, and that is probably why I'm starting to progress better. Basketball also teaches me how to deal with different types of people, deal with external pressure, and make friends, all things that would benefit me in life as well. Basketball is the place where I can prove people wrong and live my wildest dreams. Basketball, for me, is what it feels like to be alive.
