Nets have just suffered a heavy game 6 loss to get eliminated from the Playoffs? What will become of the Nets for the Postseason and also for next season?

They don't really have much in the way of options beyond bringing the band back and maybe trying to use the 29th pick in the draft to split Joe Johnson into multiple players. I mean, they could open up serious cap room if they let Lopez and Young walk and used the stretch provision on Johnson/Williams, but they don't have their draft pick next season and who are you realistically going to sign with a bare-bones roster that makes you better next year?

What will probably happen is the Nets will trade away Johnson and Williams and resign Lopez and Young.

I agree that there's a strong possibility that Joe Johnson's gone sometime between draft night and the trade deadline, simply because his huge expiring contract lets them take back multiple players if a team's looking to clean house or consolidate players to open up roster spots. Johnson (and maybe their draft pick) for Gallinari, Hickson, and Foye? For Marvin Williams, Lance Stephenson, and one of Brian Roberts or Gerald Henderson? Johnson for Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, and another player (maybe Sacramento gives Derrick Williams his QO to make it happen)? To Minnesota with Atlanta's pick for Nik Pekovic and Kevin Martin (possibly also Chase Budinger)?

However, Deron Williams is just going to be tough to move because there's another year on his max contract and he's basically a third guard at this point. Seems like they're stuck with him for at least one more year unless they'd be willing to take back a pile of equally-unattractive contracts just to make something happen.

Also agree that Lopez and Thad return - Brooklyn doesn't control any of their next three drafts, so they've got more motivation than basically any team in the league to churn out 8-seeds at all costs. If those two guys are smart they both opt out and use that leverage to get much bigger contracts from the Nets than they'd likely get otherwise.
