What would you do if these situations occured?
This assumes we made the playoffs, and won the title.
1. We have the 14th pick. Who should we take?

2. Phil Jackson retires. Who do we replace the void with?

3. Shaq retires, saying 4 rings is enough. What happens?

4. Memphis offers us Shane Battier for Kareem Rush. Do we accept?

5. We are strapped for young talent, and the draft is not helping. Do we go Mavs style and sign foreign guys as free agents?

6. Jerry Buss sells the team. The new owner has a big, willing wallet. Who do we shop for?

7. We are offered Wallace and Rip for Kobe. Yes or no?

1. Well it obviously depends who is available but if either Luke Ridnour or Emeka Okafor are there we take one of them. Maybe we consider that highschool kid Perkins as well.

2. No idea. I would sign Mike Dunleavy if he is willing.

3. We go for a big time free agent and try to build the team around Kobe.

4. They probably wouldn't offer him but I would say maybe, considering that Battier could play SF and replace Fox, unless George becomes an impact player.

5. It's not that easy.

6. I would go after Duncan, Kidd, Brand in that order. Obviously we would only get one if any. Duncan and Kidd are longshots but Brand would probably sign with us if we had the caproom.

7. No. Big Ben isn't that young and kobe's loss would leave our offense helpless.

According to this unrealistic scenario we could end up with a lineup of:

PG Ridnour(sorry Fish but you cant pass)
SG Kobe
SF Battier
PF Brand
C?

Ouch...I don't think we would be too good.

I take Okafor. With our second rounder take Josh Howard.
I do not make either trade.
We let Kobe take on the delicate role of Player/Coach
We sign Duncan. Period. No excuses.
We end up with this.

Rush/Fisher
Kobe/Shaw/Pargo
George/Howard/Fox
Horry/Okafor/Medvedenko
Duncan/Madsen/Walker

Not now, but Horry bows out, Okafor develops into a power. Howard get 15 minutes a game and averages around 10. Kobe and Tim stay the cream of the crop, but there scoring lets way to about 25 apiece to help out . George lives up to the accursed contract of his, and if not, he is traded for someone like Jason Williams. Rush blossoms after 13+ppg, and 6+ppg, while winning MIP. One problem, though. No true center.

We win number 5.

2. Van Gundy, Dunleavy, Barkley :)D )?
3. We say, "Fine, don't hit your big (rear end) on your way out!"\
4. Accept.
5. Sign 1 or 2.
6. Elton Brand...Maggette...Payton
7. Hell no

PG: Derek Fisher/I dunno
SG: Kobe Bryant/Shaw

Damn...we would suck. Maybe we could get Brand, then we might at least grab a 7 or 8 seed.
