I want to know who you would protect on your respective teams before the expansion draft which goes on June 22 (Assuming the rosters stay the same) Each team is allowed to protect eight players.

As a Raptors fan I would protect:

1. Chris Bosh
2. Vince Carter
3. Alvin Williams
4. Donyell Marshall
5. Mo Pete
6. Jalen Rose
7. Lonny Baxter
8. Michael Bradley

1. Eddy Curry
2. Jamal Crawford
3. Tyson Chandler
4. Kirk Hinrich
5. Antonio Davis
6. Jerome Williams
7. Corie Blount
8. Chris Jefferies

I think Pippens going to retire, plus hes not doing much anyways.

For the Portland Trailblazers:

Qyntel Wods
Travis Outlaw
Zach Randolph

Rasheed Wallace does not need to be protected. As an unrestricted free agent, he's not eligible to be selected in the expansion draft. Darius Miles, also, I believe, is not eligible for the expansion draft as a restricted free agent.

No one else is a real blow to lose. I'd consider protecting Ruben Patterson and Vladimir Stepania, but neither is a big deal.

Anyone else, feel free to take (along with their salaries).

Both Person and Wallace are URF, so can't protect them. Miles is a RFA, no need to protect him.

I would protect Randolph, Woods, Outlaw, and Steponia.

The rest can go.
Sheesh, you posted this as I was typing. ;)

3. Karl Malone
4. Gary Payton
5. Devean George
6. Derek Fisher
7. Kareem Rush
8. Brian Cook

But Kobe will be a FA, so I'd protect Fox instead of him (Slava will be a FA too, I believe).

Protected
1. Gilbert Arenas
2. Kwame Brown
3. Larry Hughes
4. Jared Jeffries
5. Jarvis Hayes
6. Jerry Stackhouse
7. Brendan Haywood
8. Steve Blake

Not Protected
Christian Laettner
Juan Dixon

RFA: Etan Thomas
FA: Brevin Knight, Chris Whitney, Mitchell Butler, Torraye Braggs

Dixon and Blake can be swapped, but I think Blake would be a priority considering he plays PG (only competition is Arenas) where as Dixon plays SG (competition with Stackhouse, Hughes, Hayes).

I don't know the exact rules with RFA, but if for whatever reason we need to protect Etan, I think we swap out Blake. We want them to take Laettner, and if Haywood is available for the taking, then they may be inclined to grab him instead since he's younger, cheaper, and plays a tougher position to pick up decent players at (C vs. PF).

Unless the recent drug suspension scares them off, I think they pick Laettner. He's a veteran big man with a nice-sized expiring contract ($6 million). He could make good trade bait and can play any of the three front court positions in a pinch.

True also. I think a couple of the guys he listed are free agents anyways which would allow them to protect one or two more guys (fox and walton) and still sign back the free agents.

osman -- you would protect Rose and his horrible contract? Will the Raptors be under the cap if Rose's contract disappear? If not, then I guess keeping him isn't so bad. He's a good role player.

John The Cool Kid -- Antonio Davis??? One of the worst contracts in the NBA.

Damian Necronamous -- I thought Malone and Payton can be FA after the season?

Minstrel -- great minds think alike...?

Its him or Erob or Pippen. Everyone else is a FA. I guess we could protect Pippen but he'll probably retire like I said. AD atleast produces some, Erob has been inconsistent plus his contract is big.

I doubt the Kings would take that risk. Hes a huge part of their success, and hes got a good 3 years left despite his contract. He'd be the perfect veteran guy to mentor the Bobcats in the right direction.

I believe each signed two-year deals with LA.

I agree. It's in fact quite close to another expansion, when the Magic and Timberwolves entered the league and the Detroit Pistons left Rick Mahorn, a very valuable veteran, unprotected, gambling that neither team would take a risk on Mahorn's previous back injuries.

The Timberwolves, I believe, selected him and that was damaging to the Pistons.

Doug Christie is even more important to the Kings, as a starter and their defensive linchpin. They'd be making a big mistake exposing him to the expansion draft.
