Why was Josh Howard drafted so late?

I'm not saying "teams should have recognized his talent," but look at the credentials he had going into the draft (from Wikipedia):

He was the unanimous selection as the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year in 2003 (first since David Thompson in 1975) and led Wake Forest to the regular season league championship. Howard was named the national player of the year by FOX, College Insider and Basketball Digest. He was a finalist for the John Wooden Award and the James Naismith Award in 2003.

How did he slip all the way to 29?

I guess it's because hindsight isn't something you're blessed with until after something happens.

That's messed up.

Didn't Howard have some injury questions around draft time? Seemed to be all for nothing. I remember being very upset when Atlanta passed on him for some French dude (Diaw). Looking at the two now, I still dunno who I would rather choose. Both are awesome.
he didnt really have any offensive skills when he was drafted.

so...offense is way easier to teach than defense heck look at what happened with parker, with one off-season his shots from the perimeter looks better than last year.
that draft was rather funny

everybody knew he was going to drop, and everybody said he he had a great chance to be one of the better players in the draft. Just if the teams payed attention

for real. Analysts, people on here all said he exactly what was going to happen with him

but u dont have the french dude
Kevin McHale should be granted credits for being such an idiot not to draft him, got Ebi instead. Look at that, Howard is flourishing and Ebi is unemployed.

Whoo.

actually ebi has a very stable career in the D-League
Smith was raw offensively, and while he made spectacular defensive plays in HS, nobody thought it would translate to the league, at least not to its full extent. He could jump and dunk, and that's it. The raw athlete is very common in the league.

NO!
Because Howard performed terribly in the ACC tournament and the big dance. I believe Ryan Randle and Cainer Medley manhandled him. They also lost to Auburn in the tournament, who were a 10 seed at the time.

why are you arguing with me?

Go NeTs
He was basically drafted late because he was a senior and scouts didn't believe he had potential.

Which, incidentally, is how the Mavericks got their interest in Marquis Daniels, who was at Auburn at the time.
yeah howard is my dude, but his not up to par play at the tourny didn't help. Same thing might happen to rodney carney, he could be alot like howard.
