Will Kobe ever pass out of double team.(Winning shot)

Watch the replay of the Lakers possession before the Carmelo game winning shot. Game is tied ,Kobe held on to the ball, then finally gave it up to Kwame. Got it back. There was 7 seconds left on the shot clock. Smush parker was WIDE OPEN. His man left him to help on Kobe. Kobe settled for that falling out of bounds jumper that missed the rim.

Just because a guy has struggled, doesnt mean you assume he wil miss a wide open shot. This mentality cost us so many close games. Kobe's feels its best to take a falling out of bounds jumper, over Smush being wide open for a easy set shot.

What if smush makes the shot? Now his confidents is back for next game.He was wide open.

Kobe's supreme confidence is a blessing and a course. you can't convince him that it was a bad play because he REALLY thinks he can make that shot. I do agree though, his lack of confidence in his teamates has cost us a few times. Smush in particular, doesn't even bother yelling or putting his arms up when he's open anymore.
Alright dont get me wrong. Kobe MUST learn to pass up the ball to thw open man, but its also the job of that open man to CALL for it. Smush has to take Kobe aside and let him now that he was wide open. Knowing when to speak up is a part of being a good teammate, along with knowing when to pass.

IT WAS CAUSE LUKE SUXORS MAN.
I agree that he should trust his teammates more, but one thing about last nights game, I think that Smush should have been bench the way he was playing. He wasn't doing anything on defense and his offense suck big time. His shot was way off since the start of the game and he even threw airballs and he was wide open on those shots.
^ Yeah, it looked like he was disinterested in the game. Even when Phil put him back in during OT, it looked like he didn't want to be out there. Maybe that's just the way he is. :raised_ey
...and mabye they would make it if ever passed it to them.
chicken and the egg situation ya'll

Phil Jackson put in a new crunch time lineup that excluded Parker and Parker was not happy about it even though he was not having an inspired game to begin with. When he was benched he was not involved in huddles and in what Phil had to say. Parker only came in when Odom fouled and pretty much said, "Screw you coach" by not showing any effort during the last minutes of the game. I like Smush Parker but his additude is starting to bug me. Phil completely hammers Sasha when he makes mistakes but Sasha is still always willing to show respect for Phil and come back in the game with the same energy.

As for Kobe, A lot of plays were drawn up for them and most were executed well; it's just that kobe did not make some shots. On the shot before overtime. the Lakers had 0.6 seconds to win the game. Kobe received two perfected screens to get open. His shot looked good but it hit the back of the rim. On the shot before Melo's, Kobe had the ball for an extended time. Seeing that there was not an easy way for him to dribble and then shoot he decides to give the ball to kwame for a drop of screen like he should. Kwame fumble the ball and when he Kobe got the ball back he was behind the backboard and misses badly. George got the offensive rebound but Walton missed the open jumper. Melo then makes his shot. The next play for the lakers wass one of the best executed scenarios. With 3.6 seconds left, Walton was trying to inbounds but nobody was ready for the ball so he called a timeout out like he should. They came back in a different setting but this time the Nuggets double team Bryant briefly and then had Ruben continuing to deny Byant the ball. Phil said that if kobe was not open he needs some body else to take the shot. Following Phil's instructions, Walton then pass to kwame who then made a perfect pass off screen back to Walton. Walton, as open as can bee, shot the ball left and missed. Kobe was not happy that he did not get the ball but was more unhappy with himself because he did not get open in time. He also said that Walton did have a good shot though and was happy with the team for being able to come back for that horrid first quarter.

Dont expect this team to go that far in the playoffs if this team keeps deferring to Kobe on clutch situations. Its sad, we're so predictable...opponents know Kobe will get the ball they'll double or triple team him and its the same result most of them time...A miss and another loss.

This team need to create identities and show that other players are willing to take the last shot. Kobe should be used as a decoy for others for a wide open shot. Luke did great yesterday, as much as some hated the fact he took the last shot, It was a good decision and a change of pace for this team. We cannot advance further in the playoffs if our role players are left with a cold streak during games. Kobe needs to know when to pass and when to takeover, It sounds like a cliche but its so true, that could be an x-factor on how far can we advance in the post season.
I actually liked the play they ran last night, Kobe was held up and Luke had a perfect shot....If we had a sharp shooter like Jimmy Jack or Rush ( If he was a laker), Even Lamar would of worked if he hadnt fouled out. At least this team fought back and showed they can compete even when they are down by 18. Im happy this season...
If KG or Lebron were on this team, yes I believe Kobe would pass the ball in a game winning situation.

LeBron isn't clutch.

Eh, he sure looks like it to me lately, with 3 game winners and averaging something in the mid 30's a night right now.

Its been a while since Kobe had a game winner around here.
I still remember Kobe passed to Odom for the winning shot early this season but he missed it, cant remember what was that game..
If he we had Robert Horry, Ron Harper or Derek Fisher Kobe would pass to them... hell he did on many times for game winners. On this team only Lamar... maybe Jackson or McKie but they haven't played enough for Kobe to trust them yet.

We have a bunch of 20 year olds like Smush, Mihm, Kwame, Cook that are basically starting for the first time in their career.

NJ at home, nov 27. BCook gets the offensive board, sends it into overtime. I remember thinking how much that shot would have ment to Lamar, and kobe's confidence in Lamar. It took him another 2 1/2 months to really get his offense going.
