i sure as hell hope so. This guy has shown no signs of improvement in the three seasons he has been here. We could've drafted a major project a few years ago and let him develop with that roster spot. Look at Dalembert on the Sixers. A few years later and he's contrivuting pretty nicely.

Soumalia Samake where are you??!!!????

I would imagine that ties Armstrong and Slay will not be re-signed this summer.

If K-Mart stays, the off-season could look something like this:

Departures:
Armstrong (FA)
Slay (FA)

Additions:
Krstic
Rookie SG

Kidd/Planinic
Kittles/Harris/Rookie
Jefferson/Griffin/Scalabrine
Martin/Williams/Rogers
Collins/Krstic

Does Lu's contract have a team option next year?

I'm pretty sure he's guaranteed next year.

He could go unprotected in the expansion draft, but when you look at it, K-Mart will be a free agent, and I don't think they need to protect Krstic, so their list could look like this:

1. Kidd
2. Jefferson
3. Kittles
4. Collins
5. Williams
6. Planinic
7. Scalabrine
8. Harris

with Rodney and Mourning being the only ones under contract who go unprotected. Of course, I'd love to see them extend K-Mart before the summer, and that would mean Harris or Veal would be exposed. I doubt Charlotte would take either one, though.

When is the draft going to take place? I think KMart is a RFA next season.

I think it would be nice if Lu gets picked up in the expansion. We should be looking at players like Barry in the offseason.

Yes, he is restricted, and I just found this:

If a restricted free agent is left unprotected, the Bobcats can draft
him. However, that player would then become an unrestricted free agent
- with no obligation to play for the Bobcats.

The team that lost him would be barred from re-signing him in the
summer of 2004. Restricted free agents would count against the minimum
14 selections Charlotte will make in the expansion draft.

So they would have to protect him.

1. Kidd
2. Martin
3. Jefferson
4. Kittles
5. Collins
6. Williams
7. Planinic
8. Scalabrine or Harris

So Harris could go unprotected. If he is picked, they could persue a free-agent. If not, maybe they can buyout Rodney to create some space on the roster? I'm assuming they'll keep their 1st rounder, unless they go Euro again.

I think there will be a lot of teams after Barry.

If Lu is not picked up, we will have the protected eight+ Lu+RR+Krstic+rookie= 12 players. We would still have some roster space. Rogers' would be an expensive buyout (though nothing can be expensive compared to the Deke buyout).

Edit: I just remembered we also have Griffin
:D

Some interesting decisions to make. What if Griffin finds his game (although Vin Baker should serve as a cautionary tale of dealing with a mental disease)? What if Rogers finds his game? What if Zo decides to make a comeback?

Mourning would still be on the 15-man roster. There will only be 2 open spots, one of them going to Krstic and probably one going to a rookie, unless one of the following happens:

1. Nets make a trade
2. They buy out Rogers
3. They lose someone to Charlotte
4. Griffin signs elsewhere
5. Martin signs elsewhere

So it may be a choice between Griffin and another free agent.
