I love to look back and just think about some things. If the Grizz kept Bibby and Reef, they'd have a solid core down in Memphis. Minn shouldn't have dealt Steph, either...he belonged next to Garnett. Those would have been great duos, but sadly, never percolated.

A great duo?

Hmmmm, I guess I would love to see :
maybe a Duncan - Tmac or
maybe a Duncan - Kidd, or
maybe a Duncan - Vince or
maybe a Duncan - Iverson or
maybe a Duncan - Van Exel / Nash ..... :D

If the Finley/Kidd trade never happened we could have seen a duo of Kidd/Nowitzki. As bad as Dallas was even if they had kept Kidd they would have still been in position to draft Dirk.

On another note, if the Mavs had drafted Pierce instead of Dirk they could of had a Kidd/Pierce duo.

Either of THOSE can get a fan into a dreaming mode!

Kidd/Nowitzki
Kidd/Pierce

But Nash is younger than Kidd and he learned well under both Kidd & KJ while in Phoenix. :D

Man, Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon.
Sampson got injured badly and had his career ended abruptly. If they were able to play with each other for more than the 3 years they did they would have been a real force in the west. Seriously there was no way you would be able to stop them.

Also for the future look for Stevie Francis and Eddie Griffin to be an awesome 1-2 punch

I agree and I'm looking forward to next season, hoping they're both healthy and we see what many of us think will be a great "duo".

That would be Bobby Phils you're thinking about? Phils was a decent shooter and a good defender. - but he wasn't as good as Eddy Jones at that #2 spot, IMHO.

Going back, I thought it was a given that we'd see them in the finals for years to come... but then the birght lights of the big city came calling for Shaq, and Penny kept falling down and just couldn't get up

If Penny Hardaway never had knee problems and like 8 surgerys.......Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway and Shaquille O'Neal would be winning titles right now, and Kobe Bryant would be another Tmac or Vince Carter trying to carry a .500 team.

Penny was in his 2nd year in the L and Shaq in his 3rd when they first made the finals and they lost to Hakeem and Clyde's experienced Rockets.

But man if Shaq and Penny stayed together and were healthy, the Magic would have been a dynasty or atleast would have 2-3 titles by now......:shy:

Shaq and Penny = Great Duo?

They may have won a title but I don't think they would have been as successful as Shaq and Kobe. Penny would have still suffered the injuries, and would still be the same player he is today. Now if he could have avoided the injuries, and if Shaq had stayed they may have actually been better than the Kobe and Shaq duo.

Well above I said if they stayed together and were healthy :D

Obviously Penny needed to be healthy, but I still think this duo could have been great depsite all those rumors that Shaq and Penny did not get along etc.....The only reason Shaq can play with Kobe now and for the past few years is because he learned through playing with Penny, in terms of having another superstar who needs the ball.

Shaq even said this himself, that dealing with Penny helped him in how he deals with Kobe alot today.

Boy I wish Penny was still healthy, he could have been a great player :(
