We all know what you opinion is worth around here! All we need to do is check out your predictions for both X and UD this year to realize that you don't know squat.

I'll take Scout and ESPN over Rivals anyday.

His team is CRAP - AGAIN! - and he's sticking to arguing recruiting rankings?

I consider the Rivals' rankings to be the 'standard' and so does Xavier's Sports Information Director.
You posted an article from November 2009.

Here is the most recent article from GoXavier and Xavier's athletic department. They site both Scout and ESPN.

The only reason you site Rivals as the "standard" is because Dayton has a Rivals site. Period. If all Xavier had was a Rivals site still I would most likely think the same thing but since switching to Scout I have realized it isn't even close.

Dayton Recruiting - Post # 3178

I really hope the Freshman next year pan out.

They have to with all the publicity they are getting on this thread.
Instead of commenting on the extensive amount of publicity that Dayton's recruits are getting in the media, why don't you post some of the publicity that Xavier's recruits are getting?

4 of 5 position rankings on Rivals haven't been updated since September 18th...not sure they would be very meaningful at this point in the high school seniors' careers. Lot of games in the last 5 months. Some guys will have improved, others not so much.

Other ranking services that update are probably better indicators.

Indeed. But whose fault is that ?
You should quote your beloved DDN article here:

'after being pursued non-stop by Gregory and his staff, though, those three classes never fulfilled their promise. Of the eight players signed, only Oliver, a starting junior wing, is still in the program."

For one, we are still focused on this year. I know you have moved on to what has to be a better year than the one you are living in, but us Xavier fans are still enjoying the much better than anticipated year we are having THIS year.

Talented group coming in next year with experience at the right spots. Mack continues to impress under some trying circumstances.

I had never heard of PG Spike Albrecht (HS Class of 2012) until this morning.

Spike Albrecht does not have any basketball scholarship offers from any universities or colleges.

Spike Albrecht does not have a 'player profile' on Rivals.com, ESPN, or Scout.com.

In fact, information about Spike Albrecht is hard to find on the net, but here's a recent blog:

2012 PG Spike Albrecht (mgoblog.com blog - March 22, 2012)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, you might wonder, just what does Spike Albrecht have to do with Xavier recruiting ?

Spike Albrecht smoked Semaj Christon when the Big Game was on the line:

Northfield Mt. Hermon 87, Brewster Academy 83 (ESPN - March 2, 2012)

BEVERLY, Mass. –- Spike Albrecht is one clutch player.

Scoring only 11 points in regulation, the 6-foot-1 guard hailing from Crown Point, Ind. stuck his neck out in overtime, taking three trips to the line and going 5-6, including 2 with 2.7 seconds left in the game, lifting Northfield Mt. Hermon over previously-undefeated Brewster Academy (N.H.), 87-83, in overtime during the semifinal round of the NEPSAC Class AAA basketball tournament at Endicott College.

Anthony Dallier got the rebound for the Hoggers, and once again Albrecht was fouled. He was unable to sink both this time, but it was enough to put the Hoggers up by 85-83 with 12.8 seconds to go.

The Bobcats (30-1) were able to get the ball off the Albrecht miss. Down at the other end, Semaj Christon drove to his right but lost control of the ball after colliding with Cummins; Albrecht scooped up the loose ball and immediately was fouled.

With 2.7 seconds left, and with all of the pressure on his shoulders, Albrecht coolly strode to the free throw line and let the ice drip onto the ball, sinking both free throws and putting the game indefinitely out of reach at 87-83.

Chris Mack throws another one under the bus:

Xavier Forward Chris Cantino to Transfer (NBC Sports - June 20, 2013)

Late on Wednesday night, Junior College transfer Chris Cantino announced that he was leaving Xavier.

On twitter, Cantino wrote “Welp Xavier! It’s been nice.”

Cantino had a rough go of things last season. A transfer from Palm Beach State, Cantino was docked a year of eligibility by the NCAA because he participated in a JuCo showcase after the age of 21.

“If you play in organized basketball after you’re 21 years of age, that automatically counts for one year of eligibility,” Xavier head coach Chris Mack told Shannon Russell of the Cincinnati Enquirer last November. “So Chris, prior to his enrollment at junior college, turned 21 and played in a junior college showcase. He was a junior college kid-to-be. It was in July before he enrolled. He played in three games over a weekend, didn’t know any of his teammates. It was just a showcase. In three semi-organized games in front of college coaches to get to earn a scholarship opportunity, the NCAA dings him a year of eligibility.”

Cantino redshirted last season and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Chris Cantino (Shannon Russell, Cincinnati Enquirer - August 21, 2012 at 7:58 PM)

There have been multiple reports today saying Xavier landed 6-foot-7 junior college small forward Chris Cantino. Cantino comes from Palm Beach State in Florida.

Sam Rines, his prep school coach at Rise Academy, Tweeted this: "Chris Cantino has decided to attend Xavier. He committed to Iona at first but it was without moms blessing."

The Musketeers could take all the help they can get at this point.

With Dez Wells gone - and Kenny Frease, Mark Lyons, and Tu Holloway - so are 52.6 of the team’s average 70.6 points from last year.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shannon Russell deliberatelty omitted the 'hard' information about Chris Cantino, which is readily available:

2012 JucoJunction Top 150 (Rivals.com / JucoJunction)

# 62 Chris Cantino (Rivals.com / JucoJunction profile)

Palm Beach State College - Official 2011-12 Basketball Statistics (NJCAA.org)

Chris Cantino was third in scoring on his team last season.

Chris Cantino - Official 2011-12 Basketball Statistics (NJCAA.org)

Scoring: 12.0 PPG

Rebounding: 9.0 RPG

FG Shooting: 124 for 273 (45%)

3-PT Shooting: 1 for 14 (7%)

FT Shooting: 75 for 123 (61%)

Bottom Line: Chris Cantino does not appear to be an A10-calibre player.

I guess Muddy finally admitted defeat when he took down that ludicrous signature line that showed Dayton in the Big East in 2014.
I wonder if Muddy is as upset that Archie Miller threw Matt Derenbecker "under the bus" as he is about Chris Cantino leaving Xavier. Or does he believe that only when a player decides to transfer from Xavier does it mean that the coaching staff dumped him?
