If the teams select 15 players to each squad(not sure how many they take), these are the players that I think should deserve to go to the all-star game this year in their respected conferences.

East
PG Jason Kidd - Allen Iverson - Stephon Marbury
SG Baron Davis - Tracy McGrady - Paul Pierce
SF Ron Artest - Vince Carter - Lamar Odom
PF Jermaine O'Neal - Kenyon Martin - Shareef Abdul-Rahim
C Ben Wallace - Zydrunas Ilgauskas - Jamaal Magloire

West
PG Sam Cassell - Steve Nash - Mike Bibby
SG Kobe Bryant - Gary Payton - Steve Francis
SF Peja Stojakovic - Andrei Kirilenko - Shawn Marion
PF Kevin Garnett - Elton Brand - Zach Randolph
C Tim Duncan - S.O'Neal - Brad Miller

Assuming the team selects 15 players for each squad, whats your opinion on what the team should be.

I was looking at some stats, and I found this connection... for what it's worth.

Players in the NBA in the top 20 in points per game & top 10 in assists per game:

Stephon Marbury
Baron Davis
Allen Iverson
LeBron James

All four are also in the top 20 in steals.

Baron Davis 24/8/4/2.5 steals
Jason Kidd 17/10/6/1.8 steals

Both shoot 39%

New Orleans: 22-16
New Jersey: 21-15

Identical records pretty much. But Davis is doing a hell of a job leading his team without their allstar Small Forward. It could either way, I just think Baron Davis deserves it.

Actually, Baron's stats would be worse with Mashburn in the lineup. Kidd is the better player, and has been having the better season. Before tonights name, Kidd actually has a better FG% and 3 pt%. He scores 7 less points, but also takes 7 less shots. What about Kidd's 82% FT and Baron's disgustingly horrible 63% from the line? Kidd is the easy pick in my mind.

I'll really be shocked if LeBron doesn't make it, much like Yao last year. LeBron is the one name everyone knows, plus, he's having a great season. He's so popular, and he dunks, and casual fans love that. That's why Vince Carter was named a starter last year- even though he had only played in about 15 games.

My predictions.

East
PG Allen Iverson - Jason Kidd - Stephon Marbury
SG Tracy Mcgrady - Baron Davis
SF Vince Carter - Ron Artest - Paul Pierce
PF Jermaine O'Neal - Kenyon Martin
C Ben Wallace - Zydrunas Ilgauskas

West
PG Steve Francis - Sam Cassell
SG Kobe Bryant - Ray Allen
SF Kevin Garnett - Peja Stojakovic - Andrei Kirilenko
PF Tim Duncan - Dirk Nowitzki - Zach Randolph
C Shaquile O'Neal - Brad Miller

If Yao ends up winning the fan voting Kirilenko will get bumped out of the game.

I agree miller should be there, but i dont think he will go if yao gets the votes, which he probually will. Kirilenko better be there, but i have heard no argument for Spree. Yes, he is the third best player on minny, but he is still having a hell of a year. Garnett will play SF in the game, but is a PF. I agree with your east team. I dont think Ray will go due to his injury earlier in the year(why brand wont go). Spree is as deserving to go as anyone, on a top team in the west and is producing in big games. I just know one thing, If sammy isnt there, im not watching the game! Antoine Walker also should get some consideration, along with Jason Richardson. Although his scoring isnt very high(18 a game) he is one of 3 guards in the league to average over 18 ppg and 6 boards a game(JRich, Pierce, Tmac) and the only west guard to go it. JRich wont go, but he should still get mentioned.

i don't watch teams in the east nearly as much as teams in the west because it hurts my eyes to watch east teams play. i tried to watch the bucks-nets game tonight..the halftime score was in the 30s..from 2 playoff teams..

west i would say:

Guards: Kobe, Gary Payton, Steve Francis, Sam Cassell, Mike Bibby
Forwards: KG, Tim Duncan, Peja, Kirilinko
Centers; Shaq, Yao, Brad Miller
i dunno if popovich or flip would put in 3 kings and 3 lakers though even though they deserve it. i can see popovich putting in ginobili over mike.
East:

Guards: Allen Iverson, Baron Davis, Jason Kidd, Stephon Marbury, Tracy McGrady, LeBron James, Paul Pierce
Forwards: Vince Carter, Ron Artest, J.O'neal
C: Ben Wallace, Z (cus I'm not about to try to spell his name)
