Just figured I'd get us Catamount fans thinking about what OOC games they'd like to see. I know Nevada is coming to The Pat, but lets think about what other matchups we'd like to have (for the matchup but also for media exposure).. Here are a couple I thought of:

UNC
Duke
Syracuse
Kansas
Michigan State
UCLA
Arizona
St. Joes

Sans Duke and St Joe's, Vermont has played all those teams in the past 4 years. They will be playing at Notre Dame this season.

One thing I would have really have liked to see in those four years, was UVM play top, well-known mid-major programs like Creighton and Southern Illinois, and MVC really. It still would be good to play those teams in the future.

While there might be a team like Duke or BC in the schedule this year (BC is more realistic), hopefully there is a Brown and Navy in there as well.

Cuse might book us, just to wallop us and 'prove' that they can beat a significantly less talented Vermont squad.

how about Maryland (Lonegran would love that!), UCONN (show the big boys who they missed recruiting in state), Gonzaga ( hey if we're going to be the eastern version...), UNC ( I doubt they could blow us out like they did last year), Northeastern (oh, I wonder why?)

I like your suggestions, Catshoopfan, especially Maryland and Gonzaga.

UConn and UNC might be a bit of a stretch this year (05-06) ... maybe next year, after we know what kind of program we're going to have and how well our incoming class gels with the current roster players. no point in getting hammered. don't know if Northeastern would be wise yet or not.

but ... what about
Southern Illinois (Salukis, right? Clyde's old team?)
West Virginia
Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Boston College
Old Dominion
Bucknell

(you can probably tell I was looking at the 2005 NCAA tourney brackets to think about possible "good fits"... and yes, I hereby date myself by the "Clyde" comment. I was a huge Knicks fan in the early 70s, the glory days of Walt "Clyde" Frazier, Earl "the Pearl" Monroe, Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley (wouldn't he have done well if they'd had the 3-pt shot then), and even Phil Jackson (6th man, and the original Human Coathanger)...)

Another Mid-Major Possibility...

Another mid-major team I wouldn't be surprised to see on future schedules: Loyola. Allows Lonergan to return to the Baltimore/DC area, and he and coach Jimmy Patsos are close way back.

I also like the Fairfield idea.
