Grad Transfer Paul Greene has committed to UMBC - averaged 13.2 PPG and 12.1 PPG on 49% shooting for D2 Southern New Hampshire (NE10 Champs).

Seems to be an all-around player who is willing to do what is needed to help his team win. Added 56 assists, 51 steals and 21 blocks last season.

Two years of eligibilty as he comes fron New Haven (DII, soon-to-be DI).

6'3 guard who averaged 16.4 PPG in his first two seasons, shooting 44% from the field, 31% from 3 and 81% FTs.

Looks like a good add!

Can really start to see a rotation coming together now.

Morton
Ceaser
King
Greene
Tanchyn

Ciunys
Armstrong
Valentine
Dickerson
Eze

A pretty capable scoring backcourt there. Would like to see another bench big in one of these last two spots.

Do you really see Valentine coming off the bench considering he's the only player on the roster that has played two full seasons (RC being injured)? They definitely need to add another big, didn't see anything from Dickerson and Eze that tells me they can give you minutes at the 5

Sure, I could see him starting or one of the first off the bench. I don't think he's more than a 20-25 minute guy though if the team is flourishing.

Good player? I know nothing about him other than he played at Old Dirty University
Very highly regarded recruit (#2 in MD in ‘24) who was in the backend of ODU’s rotation in the American Conference as an 18 y/o. An athletic wing who has the ability to hit shots from the perimeter.

It’s a perfect opportunity for a program like UMBC to show it can be a place for young players to flourish before working their way up the D1 ladder. I have to imagine Diggs was looking for a place that could promise PT and had a track record of getting guys NIL deals.

Is this an ideal program identity? Perhaps not for yearly consistency and the threat of players trying to play selfishly to earn their next school. But getting higher quality talent into the door certainly opens the door for more “boom” seasons versus consistent “busts.”

God, I hate this new era.
