Feels like a little bit of reach for us, but other comparable teams thought it was worthwhile to reach out. Good assist/defensive numbers. Decent but not amazing perimeter shooter. Good size.

ADDED: Braden Housley, 6-4 G, Utah State, 2 YTP: Braden Housley - Men's Basketball - Utah State University Athletics

Only played in 3 games last year due to injury. Good defender but inefficient scorer in his first year at Southern Utah. Could potentially have a 3rd YTP with a waiver (already used a RS year). This staff is going to land a kid from Utah some day or die trying.

Open Offers to Non-NCAA Players:

Will Goode, 6-9 F, New Hampton School (NH), 4 YTP
Isaac Finlinson, 6-8 F, Snow JC (UT), 2 YTP
Isaac Garrett, 6-9 F, Snow JC (UT), 2 YTP ====> OAKLAND

Isaac Garrett committed to Oakland today. I believe Finlinson is visiting there, I wonder if the Golden Grizzlies will be able to pull off the Isaac Double we once aspired to.

Would be surprised if Goode was still on the radar.

The comment in the fall was “all the kids we had on campus were looking for $” and he was a kid on campus in the fall.

We have $ now, but that ship may have sailed.

While I too would be a little surprised if Goode is still on our radar, fact is it's April 15th and he's an unsigned senior who has made visits to schools who in theory could have given him the money he was looking for...if they were willing to. I think he visited like 3 Valley schools. But here he is, from everything I can tell, just hanging around out there. Hardly any chatter on him that I can find. Sounds like he left New Hampton mid-season and transferred back to his hometown school in Kansas. Making a completely uneducated read strictly on vibes, it almost feels like he's a kid who might end up at a JUCO (or possibly another post-grad scenario, as I think he's only played 4 years of HS ball) next year to try and get another crack at this process again in the winter.

After our first two transfer pick-ups, he'd be in a low-priority position for us. But we also need 5 guys. Maybe he's the Ra Kpedi of this group, where we offer him in the fall and he seemingly disappears from consciousness until one day he commits in late April. Who knows.

Certainly drawing a lot of interest. 3rd Team All-MAAC. Definitely a get to the basket guy more than a perimeter threat. 60 steals in 31 games.

He would have played a year with TJ Long, correct?

No, he only played last season at Fairfield. Was at Southern Utah for his SO year, and Bellevue College for his FR year.

I know, it's so tricky now with all the player movement to keep track of who might have crossed paths with who.

I did not realize Goode transferred back home, but makes sense as heard a lot about New Hampton this winter but did not hear much about Goode. New Hampton was stacked this year with a lot of D1 talent, so wonder why he left. If it had to do with wanting to be closer to home, then can probably exclude a return to Northern New England, especially given the head coach’s ties to VT.

Yeah, I only found out about the transfer when trying to dig up any new info on him. Looks like he played at New Hampton at least into late January...maybe finished up the semester? Then he was back playing in Kansas by late February for only about the last 4 games. Not sure what precipitated the move. He keeps a fairly low public social media profile, which is refreshing but also doesn't leave a lot of room for info.

May end up with more than 1 YTP with an injury waiver, I think. Kinda hard to track his eligibility, can't really figure out where his FR year was. Similar profile to other guys we've tapped into lately: bigger guard, does more work inside the arc than outside. Solid defensive numbers.

ADDED: Hudson Ward, 6-7 F, Penn State, 3 YTP: Hudson Ward - 2024-25 Men's Basketball

Rode pine at PSU, but played for the Canada U-17 where he showed some perimeter skills. Played in the All-Canada game against Sean Blake. Still think it'd be a big get if we're able to reel him in, but certainly having him on campus is a good start.

Muniz guy out:

I have mixed feelings about this. While I think he can be useful in the offensive system, he doesn't solve the lack of athleticism in the backcourt outside of Blake.
This feels like a depth signing. Guy who can crack the rotation situationally that is experienced, the staff knows well enough, and like you said, has use offensively, but probably isn't starting. I also tend to doubt much, if any of the NIL funds were used to procure him. Likely a scenario where a guy just wants to experience winning for a change.

Do we know what his season-ending injury was this year? I tried to dig around on Google and on this board but couldn't find specific reference to it. Anyway, if he's healthy I think this is a solid rotation piece. Good perimeter shooter who can also get to and score around the rim. Good size for his position. He doesn't solve all our problems, but with 4 spots left I'm comfortable with the idea that we may not solve all of our problems in order of priority. Guys come along when they come along, and in this case I think he makes us better.

Yeah, this is a good fit for an 8th guy. Experienced, probably won’t screw things up, eats some minutes. Low risk as long as he’s healthy. Still leaves four spots to hopefully add some more athleticism. Overall, I like this one.

I like it. Good size & versatile, OH kid, started out at Valpo, put up good numbers in 23-24 at UNH when he was healthy.

Now let’s sign Hudson Ward and really get this party poppin’

26-28 minutes, 6-8 points, 3-4 rebounds isn't exactly filling the stat sheet. More like just a guy. But as others have said he has experience and probably won't hurt you while he's out there. Probably won't win you a lot of games either. Depth piece. If he's playing more than 15 minutes per games next season then we're not very good.

Concussion and not his first.
