This is a Bill Simmons article, it is really really funny.

The funniest part in the article-

Wiesbrod :You know, I loved that trade, but I loved the Rafael Araujo pick better.

Babcock : Thanks

Wiesbrod : Passing up Andre Igoudala for a 24 year old center who averaged 0.1 blocks per game in college and run likes a duck........I just thought that was brilliant.

At the time, the Raptors had alot of money locked up in Rose and Carter, Araujo may not look like the better pick than Igoudala right now, but drafting a big man was the right choice over a swingman.

Two theories on that: picking for position or picking best player available. I believe absent reallllly compelling reasons, you should go with the player you think is the best available regardless of position. Going the other direction is always risky.

It's also interesting to note that in this past draft, Babcock went completely the other way, picking Villaneuva when the Raptors already had Bosh. He got slammed for it. He made the right move with Villaneuva and the wrong move with Araujo.

"Sadly, Wes Unseld was unable to make it after he accidentally traded his first-class Delta Airlines ticket to Houston for three Southwest Airlines tickets to Atlanta."
