On the front Page of ESPN's site, they ask the question "What is the worst management decision ever made?" There are 4 choices--multiple choice like they do every day. 1) Red Sox sell Babe Ruth to Red Sox. 2) Red Sox give up on Roger Clemens. 3) Vikings trade players/picks for Hershall Walker. And at #4) Blazers draft Sam Bowie over Jordan This has been a popular debate in here lately, it's interesting to see how people on a national scope view this in relation to other bad choices. The results? So far, The Blazers drafting Bowie over MJ is in 1st place with 46% of the votes (Followed by the Sox seling Ruth with 36%) Geez, the Red Sox sell Ruth and don't win a world series for 86 years (while the Yanks rack up 20 something rings) and the Bowie debacle still takes the crown? Who would you pick?

The Sox selling Babe Ruth is clearly the landslide winner. 2nd place - whatever that may be - isn't even in the same ballpark (or arena) as devastating management moves.
The Ruth decision created a legend - The Curse of the Bambino. There have been movies, tv shows, countless books, and probably thousands of newspaper and magazine articles written about the decision and the aftermath.
Yes, Jordan won 6 rings. But, it wasn't as if it torpedoed the Blazers who made two Finals appearances without him and sold out their arena the entire time while doing it.
Sure Jordan would have been fabulous to have. But how many extra tickets could the team have sold if they had Jordan?
